The Promenade Cafe’ at the Queen Mary, Long Beach, CA 90802
The Promenade Café at the Queen Mary, Long Beach, CA There are quite a few Restaurants at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. Ironically both times we went to the Queen Mary we ended up at “The Promenade Café”. Quite frankly it is a reasonably priced Restaurant with great food. Diane had a Tuna Melt with French Fries, Linda had a Chicken Veggie Wrap with homemade potato chips, Diane’s father had had the Philly Stake Sandwich and I had the Salad Nicoise. Mine was probably the healthiest of the four and it was done truly close to the tradition, with the hardboiled egg, green beans, olives and tuna over a bed of lettuce. Anyway it was truly great! Anyway check out the pictures and you tell me if I am wrong. If you ever go to the Queen Mary and do not want to stay for Dinner, then make the Promenade Café your destination of choice. First of all, how often will you have the opportunity to eat on an Ocean Cruise Liner, might as well make the most of it. They have small selection of wine by the glass but drinkable. I had a nice Pinot Noir and Diane had a nice Chardonnay and as you will see in the pictures Linda had a Bloody Mary and Diane’s Dad had a beer. So it was a fun way to relax after the tour of the Queen Mary and the Diane Princess Exhibit. 1126 Queens Highway • Long Beach, CA 90802 Information: (877) 342-0738 • Hotel Reservations: (877) 342-0742 • QUEENMARY.COM – See more at: http://www.queenmary.com/dining/promenade-cafe.php Next time I will have Sir Winston on my list but we need to go later in the afternoon:)) If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Sick Sea lions in Malibu, CA Update!! As most of you remember in March, Sick Sea lions have been washing up the coast of California, from San Francisco to Southern California Beaches. This has been going on for the entire month of March & April. Totally devastating and a sad occurrence, I almost did not want to write about these occurrences since it is so depressing. (Ultimately I did not until now) All the news media have picked up these occurrences, the sea lion incident in Laguna Beach with the former US Representative’s daughter and husband the Astronaut Mark Kelly having their dog loose, not on a leash that killed the sea lion pup made the internet. Ironically the focus was on the celebrity status of the owners rather than focusing on the problem of why are Sea lion pups washing up all dehydrated? Ironically they did not even give them a ticket for being loose on the beach, but that is another story. It is very disturbing when we see these animals washing ashore from Venice Beach to Malibu Beaches. Sadly what makes it so disturbing is we cannot help them. When you feel helpless that is the worst feeling in the world. Human nature is we want to help anyone in distress especially helpless animals. We all want to help trying to bring them to the water, splash water on them. Ironically that is the worst thing you could do. The wisest move would be is to call animal control and they could call the Rescue Mammal Organizations. Well here is the update: Why am I writing it now? Well now it is not news anymore at least not sensationalized news. Wild Life Rescuers have saved around 1550+/- sea lions along the California Coast. I am happy to report that is incredible! Sadly 10 -15% percent of the rescued pups had to be rescued again! So what is the Reason for this? According to scientists close to this disaster have found that it is due to a food shortage: The Pups like to eat squid and small fish and it appears that due to the natural disaster that occurred in Fukushima, Japan last Winter has caused increased radio activity and the small fish near the top of the ocean have been decimated which in turn have affected the Sea lion pups food supply. These in turn have triggered the standings of the Sea Lion Pups. Sadly this has been confirmed by the fact that there has been a higher radio activity found in the Sea Lion Pups on the West Coast. I am grateful to the Scientists, Volunteers and all the Sea World personnel who quietly helped save all the Sea Lion Pups. Sadly this was not News Worthy! The Queen Mary: Long Beach, CA 90802 The Queen Mary has been through a lot in her illustrious career from her maiden voyage in 1936 to her retirement in 1967. In the beginning she was the premier way to cross the ocean between Europe and the United States. All civilized and affluent people would not consider traveling by any other mode, but the Queen Mary. Then came World War II, she was then transformed into a troopship and carried about 800,000 soldiers to their destination. By the end of WWII she was fondly called “The Grey Ghost”. After she retired in 1967 the City of Long Beach, CA purchased her and has become a Tourist Attraction from all over the world. At the same time a great revenue producer for the City of Long Beach, CA. Today, the Queen Mary is not only a Tourist Destination place but a Hotel tooJ This is truly a unique Steam Ship from a bye gone era. Here are a few pictures I thought you would all enjoy. This is a post of one of at least threeJ. Since not only did we go on the Queen Mary, but we also had lunch at The Promenade (one of the three Restaurants aboard) but we also saw a special Exhibit: DIANA Legacy of a Princess. This is was not our first time here, I remember taking a detailed tour with my parents about seven or eight years ago and it was as if we were walking with them again. This time it was Diane, her father and one of her girlfriends. We did not do the tour, this time we wondered around on our own. We focused on the exhibit and the different levels of the Ship from the outside. Hence combined the two visits, we have now even a better feel of the magnitude and magnificence of this Great Ocean Liner. Should you be in the Greater Los Angeles Area you would do yourself a disservice if you did not spend an afternoon at the Queen Mary. 1126 Queen Highway, Long Beach, CA 90802 800.437.2934 www.queenmary.com If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Westwood /Century City: How is the Luxury Real Estate Market? As most of you who read my Blog on a consistent basis have heard me mention that in Los Angeles there are many micro real estate markets. I have been breaking them down into various pockets. The West Wood Century City Market I usually break it into two groups the Condominium Market and the Single Family Residences and even there I find it could be further broken down into the various zip codes. Today I will just address the Westwood/Century City Single Family Homes. This is such a desirable market, since it is close to everything on the West Side of Los Angeles. Most homes are about six to nine miles from the ocean and two to six miles to Beverly Hills. Now with such detailed back ground let us look at the Real Estate Activity. Currently there are thirty (30) homes available to purchase. Of these homes $4,895,000.00 is the most expensive one available and the least expensive one you can have for $795,000.00. There are eight (8) homes which are accepting back up offers and one is on Hold Status. There are twenty six homes (26) in Pending Status just waiting to close. Needless to say the most important number is the Sold Status. So year to date Eighty one (81) homes have sold and of that Fifteen (15) sold this month and we still have another week to go. The Bel Air CA 90077 Luxury Real Estate Market Report Update! As most of you remember about 23 days ago I wrote a Luxury Market Report about Bel Air, CA. In case you missed it I am enclosing a link to it here (http://actvra.in/Wxk ) as you know I indicated that the market was on fire. Needless to say there has been so much mixed misinformation not only in the Media, but even some Bloggers who have bought into the mixed message. Hence I felt obligated to give an update of the Bel Air, CA Luxury Real Estate Market. Currently there are 76 Active Listings on the market for sale. In addition there are 17 Properties in Back up Offer Status. In other words they are still accepting back up offers. Two are on Hold Status (usually a sign of a Short Sale) Twenty one (21) Properties are in Pending Status just waiting to Close Escrow. The most important Number the Sold Status consists of Fifteen Properties (15) now keep in mind today is June 23rd, 2013, we still have five more days to have properties to Record, Close and about seven days to report this. Hence I anticipate this number will be increasing. Therefore I would like to close with the message: As you can see the Market did not take a pause rather continued to Steam along J so to those who are stating information to the contrary just have them look at these figures and let them revise their positions J If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. We spent a casual lunch at the Blue Water Grill in Redondo Beach, CA with Dad. As most of you who read my blog know that Diane’s Father is here in town and we decided to spend a casual lunch at one of our favorite seafood restaurants along the coast. Diane’s Dad is low key, nothing high end, just good food and good company will keep him happy. Hence we decided to drive along the coast to Redondo Beach, CA. Virtually no traffic as well as no waiting to get a great ocean view window seating. I have written about the Blue Water Grill a while back hence it was good to revisit this great restaurant via my Blog PostJ (http://actvra.in/Xxd ) They have the best New England clam chowder outside of New England and I would match them for a taste testing anytimeJ Diane loves the fried Clams with the bellies, not too many restaurants in California do that so it is a special treat for usJ. Truth in the Media: Miami Heat pops 100 bottles of Dom Perignon worth $100,000. NOT!!! As most of you know I have been an advocate of Truth in the Media. So you can imagine my outrage when I heard that the Miami Heat popped 100 bottles of Dom Perignon worth $100,000. Ok first my reaction was why waste a nice luxury Champaign for showering each other (see link http://bossip.com/602970/makin-it-rain-on-them-hoes-championship-miami-heat-team-popped-100-bottles-of-pricy-dom-perignon-after-their-win-worth-100k-in-the-club/ ) Ok now let us look at the Truth. Enclosed here is a picture of a vintage 1993 Dom Perignon at today’s market price it is worth around $360 per bottle. As most of you will guess they probably had at best 2003 Vintage. So my best guess is around $160 per bottle. OK now let us do the numbers 100 time $160= $16,000.00 so the TRUTH is not $100,000.00 but a mere $16,000.00 shower in the locker room. So this reminds me of what the media does with Real Estate…sensationalize something that is not true. On a side note all I can say is Thank God They did not waste Krug in the Locker Room. I will match anyone on a blind taste testing of Vintage Dom Perignon against Krug Non VintageJ and you know and I know which one you will like betterJ now this is from a Luxury Malibu Realtor who has tasted bothJ If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. How is the Luxury Marina Del Rey, CA 90292 Real Estate Market? As most of you who follow my blog posts regularly know that I live in Marina Del Rey, CA 90292 and at the same time I have done numerous Posts about the Luxury Real Estate Market of Bel Air, The luxury Real Estate market of Beverly Hills as well as the Luxury Real Estate Market of Beverly Hills Post Office. Hence it is fitting that I would do a Luxury Market Report of Marina Del Rey, CA where I happen to be living for the past six plus years. It has not been that long when hardly any activity was going on, what a change. Currently there are 11 homes on the Market that have not received an offer yet or the Listing Agents have been too busy to change the Status. Amazingly the least expensive house is on the market for $590,000.00 and the most expensive one is on the market for $4,395,000.00. There are six homes that are accepting Back up Offers. The low end is at $879,000.00 to the high of $2,400,000.00 There are three homes in Pending Status. My favorite statistic is the Sold. Year to date 22 homes have sold in Marina Del Rey, CA 90292. The most interesting part of these numbers is the least expensive home was sold for $700,000 and it was approximately $50,000 above asking when it sold. The most expensive home sold for $4,750,000.00 just $100,000.00 under the asking price. So you can see that the Real Estate Market is on Fire even in Marina Del Rey, CA. Hence when I know that some of my clients who love and appreciate a Luxurious Champaign I love to give them as a Closing Gift. What is the old saying “We give what we like to receive? He wrote down the detailed description of how to make the Krug Grande Cuvee in a Deep Cherry Red Notebook. The year was 1848 the founding principles of the house of Krug are in this Notebook as well. The luxurious box they package the Champaign is virtually identical to the notebook’s colors & texture.
