Do you know who George Tirebiter was, bit of Los Angeles & USC History

Posted by on 5:12 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Do you know who George Tirebiter was? A bit of Los Angeles & USC HistoryJ   If you have been to USC‘s Downtown Campus (University of Southern California) the odds are you have seen a Statue of George Tirebiter! George Tirebiter wondered into the USC Downtown Los Angeles Campus around the late 1940’s  and could be see all the way to the early 1950’s and the rest is historyJ well not quite. There were different versions of the history some say that students rescued him off the street. Either way he was a shaggy, dirty, but lovable muttJ. Ultimately in 1947 he became the Mascot of the school “officially or unofficially” either way he was at every football game, he posed with the Prom Queens among other things.   George Tirebiter has his own websiteJhttp://www.tirebiter.com/ and as you can see he has a statue as well! Sadly tragedy occurred and he was followed by George the Second and ultimately George the Third   http://www.usctrojans.com/trads/usc-tire.html   George had a huge following and I was glad to be able to take a picture of this great Mascot of USC! This small history of a famous mutt is presented to you by your  Pet Friendly Realtor Endre Barath, Jr.       If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. ‘Project Loon’ by Google is buzzing the internet. Have you heard?

Posted by on 6:35 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

‘Project Loon’ by Google is buzzing the internet. Have you heard?   As most of you who are following blogosphere, the internet is on Fire! The word just hit that Google has launched a project called “Project LOON” The internet search giant wants to give everyone on earth Internet access and they have an idea how to do it! Google has officially announced “Project Loon” http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2013/06/introducing-project-loon.html  the idea is clear connecting the entire world to the Internet.   Some of you who read my blog on a consistent basis will remember that I wrote a blog post almost six months ago to the day that Google has hired Ray Kurzweil   (http://actvra.in/N4t ) this is clearly his brain child whether Google  Inc  or the representatives who speak for Google will admit it or not. Check out my blog post and tell me if I am wrong. So what is Project Loon? The idea is actually very simple to build a ring of balloons, flying around the globe on the stratosphere and provide Internet access to the earth below. I for one would appreciate it since many times I cannot get connectivity in Marina Del Rey, CA because of various reasons…the real reason is that there are gaps in the internet beam access on today’s 3G Network.   So how do they want to accomplish this that Verizon and other internet service providers could not? Their solution is easy: solar-powered, remote controlled balloons would be in the stratosphere about 12-15 miles above the surface of the earth, well above the altitude where the planes fly and they communicate with special antennas and receiver stations on the ground. Now keep in mind this is what I call “revolutionary” Governments have spent millions and millions of dollars to work on Satellite communication….here comes Google and they have a solution on what I consider truly low tech and simple way of solving the communication challenges.   So what you are seeing in blogosphere is the Pilot program that Google is testing in New Zealand as we speak. So if you are not sleeping and are aware check out the internet that is all everyone is buzzing aboutJ   Just as a post script Google said it is a culmination of 18 months worth of work but obviously this was one of the reasons Ray Kurzweil has joined Google six months ago be Prepared that once they prefect this project, fiber optic cables will be a distant memory.   Now keep in mind NASA, the Defense Department and various other countries have been studying Balloon science. The bottom line is they all were doing it as a secret military and mostly covert operation. Google wants the world to be connected. This in my opinion will have a huge impact on the underdeveloped and the developing nations as they will be brought into the Internet, digital age. I see this will not only effect economic, military as well as social movements. The world as we know it now will be more connected and there will be many positive effects.   So some of you who saw UFO’s in the past 6-18 months in California were actually seeing Google Baloons since before heading to New Zealand they spent a few months here in California’s Central Valley. So...

Father’s Day is this Sunday: How about going to Dodger Stadium?

Posted by on 1:53 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Father’s Day is this Sunday: How about going to Dodger Stadium?   Father’s Day is this Sunday: How about going to Dodger Stadium as a pre-father’s day? Well Diane’s father has not been to a Dodger/Braves game since 1954. In those days they called them The Boston Braves and the Brooklyn DodgersJ The two of us went to the Game:  me and Diane’s father. The game was fun and so close that we ended up having extra innings. Since he is a Braves Fan it was extra special. The only bad part for him was that the Dodgers won due to two wild pitches. Never the less it was all good since they Fireworks right after the game. Well instead of me telling you check out these pictures and you tell me if we did not have a good timeJ This post is for all the fathers and all baseball loving Realtors Friends and Clients! Did you know Conundrum White Wine is a Product of Camus Wines?

Posted by on 8:04 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Did you know Conundrum White Wine is a product of Camus Wines?   As most of you know I love to drink good wines and eat good food. I prefer Red wines over White wines, nevertheless there are a few exceptions. Conundrum White is one of them. It is a blend of five different white wines. When you say complex wine generally Red is what comes to my mind, in this case I can safely say that this White Wine Blend is Complex. If you are a Red wine lover but are willing to venture out of your comfort zone you must try Conundrum. If you are a white wine lover Conundrum is a must try on your list. The best part is it is under $20 per bottle if you buy it in a wine store, I have seen it even in Restaurants anywhere from $30-$38 a bottle. Do yourself a favor and drink it. If you did not like it reach out to me. If you loved it reach out to me then as well J   Normally I do not include ratings; in this case I am making an exception, see cut and paste here:   “This delicious blend of five white wine grapes is one of the best of its type from California.  It’s a complex wine, with an array of ripe, concentrated flavors—pear, honey, fig, vanilla, peach and nectarine, finishing with lots of character and a dash of spice.  Delicious.” Wine Spectator   Conundrum White was one of the first white wine blends made in California and it is very near and dear to winery owner Chuck Wagner’s heart.  Chuck recalls, “It was inspired by my father, Charlie Wagner; who way back when, would sit at the dining room table blending all sorts of wines together to create the ‘perfect glass’ to pair with his meal.”  For over twenty years we have been blending a ‘conundrum’ of white varietals together to create a complex, yet harmonious symphony of flavors that will complement an array of different cuisines   http://conundrumwines.com/   If you are intrigued check this link as well as the wine outJ   Now if you are looking for buyer or seller representation without drama or emotional roller coaster ride, please reach out to meJ.   If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. What a surprise: I received a call from our Receptionist at Prudential

Posted by on 7:11 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

What a surprise: I received a call from our Receptionist at Prudential California Realty in Beverly Hills! Often times we work hard and we do not even get a ‘Thank You’ verbally, via email, via either text or voice mail. So you can imagine the surprise I received the other day. I get a call from our receptionist that there is a box that has wine in it. Lately I have been extremely busy so it could have been any one of my five sellers, three of my buyers or the Escrow or Title reps who wanted to show appreciation. Well I made it a specific trip to visit our Office and pick up my gift. You never know who will be so glad and show their appreciation. In this instance I had a buyer who cancelled on one of my Escrows because it did not make sense financially to move forward. I then turned around and sold him another vacant lot without drama or emotional guilt trips. I actually never met the buyer until after the closing and we went out to lunch. Look what I received. As most of my readers know I love wineJ.   Now if you are looking for buyer or seller representation without drama or emotional roller coaster ride, please reach out to meJ . As Interest Rates are creeping up:Time to check out your Credit Score!

Posted by on 10:29 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

As Interest rates are creeping up: Time to check  out your Credit Score!  As interest rates are slowly creeping up I would like to caution those of you who are planning to purchase a property in the near term with a mortgage vs. all cash it is time to check your Credit Scores.    According to the Consumer Financial Credit Bureau (CFCB) Credit Scores sold to consumers are not the same as the ones lenders use. Hence there is a difference between the scores which in turn could be the difference between a lender approving or rejecting an applicant for a mortgage. Hence to check your Credit Score develop a relationship with a Mortgage Broker or Mortgage Banker that way you will be on the same level playing field as your Financial Institution. Fair Isaacs Corporation has retooled their scoring system. I am referring to the FICO Score: the formula that they use in calculation to determine a Number for the majority of Americans to see what is their Credit Worthiness is. Those who want to buy a home depend on a good FICO Score to get low interest rates. To simplify, it is a credit score that represents the potential creditors paying behavior. The higher the score the better ones chances are for getting a low interest mortgage.   Should you need a referral for a mortgage broker:  feel free to reach out to me for a savvy mortgage lender contact?   If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. What do you get for $125,000,000 in the Greater Los Angeles Area?

Posted by on 6:49 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

What do you get for $125,000,000 in the Greater Los Angeles Area?   I have received a number of inquiries from various parts of the country as well as the world asking me. So what do you get for a $125,000,000.00? The answer is not as simple as you would think.  Well for starters, you get the most expensive home in the Greater Los Angeles, CA which happens to be located on North Carolwood Dr in Bel Air CA.   The home was built in 2002 on a sprawling land of approximately 182,204 sq ft. Keep in mind one acre consists of 43,560 sq ft. That places this home on 4.18 acres of Prime Land in Bel Air! Upon further investigation we discover that there are two APN (4358-006-048 = 4.163 and 4358-006-034 = .45 acres) for a total of 4.61 acres of land   The home has its own name “Fleur de Lys” has been called one of the most beautiful estates in the United States. The home consists of 12 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms and according to various sources about 35,000 sq ft of living space.   The property has been on the Market since April 2007 and this magnificent home is now on the second listing agent. The first Realtor had the listing for four years and the second one had it since April of 2011. Interestingly both Listing Agents had the price at the same price $125,000,000.00.   The first listing agent had one picture in the Multiple Listing Service and the current agent has six pictures. I find it interesting there are no virtual tours, no floor plans everything is limited on the internet there are about ten or more different pictures.   The building has the look and feel of a European Palace, reminiscent of France, Germany or Austria. A few years ago I spoke to the Architect who designed the home and it was an enjoyable discussion as he explained he has been experimenting with smaller versions of this style in Los Angles. (I need to blog about those homes one of these daysJ)    The profile of the owner: she is a divorce from a Texas Billionaire, who is very firm on her list price of her Bel Air Palace. There are many amenities that I know of, but did not mention in this blog.   Should you be interested in buying this magnificent home or any other less expensive homes in the Greater Los Angeles area, feel free to reach out to me directly.
