Gondolier in Marina Del Rey, CA, Can you imagine a Gondola Ride in MDR

Posted by on 1:00 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Gondoliers in Marina Del Rey, CA, Can you imagine a  Romantic Gondola Ride in Marina Del Rey? Are you a Romantic? If you are, then this is definitely  for you. Diane and I were strolling by the Channel in Marina Del Rey, CA when we noticed a Gondola like in Venice, Italy moving in the Channel with a Gondolier Singing Italian Love Songs.  We saw a couple snuggled up, very romantic and cozy. Needless to say I had my BlackBerry with me and snapped these photos to share. As you can see it looks like the same ride as being at the Venetian in Las Vegas or the original Gondola Rides of Venice Italy.   When we came back from our walk I had to do some research. Evidently you can have day time; evening or sunset rides from an hour and a half to two and a half hours, with wine, Champaign, fruit platter or a real meal. Most people opt for the one and a half hour romantic ride; most people had favorable comments on Yelp. So if you are in Marina Del Rey and want to do something romantic and not just the ordinary evening than check out Gondolas D’Amore in Marina Del Rey, CA.   http://gondolasdamore.com   14045 Panay Way Marina del Rey, CA 90292   (310) 736-7301   If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. The Esplanade a great Complex inside the Playa Vista, CA community!

Posted by on 6:19 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

The Esplanade a great  Complex inside the in Playa Vista, CA urban community! First of all, most of you who read my blog consistently, know I have written often about the Playa Vista, CA Urban Community. This was the first urban development in 50 years in the Greater Los Angeles, CA. Now inside the Playa Vista community is The Esplanade, full character and charm. There is a tower and many arched loggias. There are single level condominiums and town homes and some face inward to the Romanic courtyards. Others face the community or the Mountains. I think of the Architecture having a strong European influence in this complex. Some of you might think of it being classic California Mediterranean style of the 1930’s. Now the Esplanade is in the heart of the Concert Park District of Playa Vista, CA. If you would like more information of the Playa Vista community please reach out to me directly. Currently I have two homes for you to move in! Have you ever listened to Seville? Well we have. They are Great!

Posted by on 5:21 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Have you ever listened to  Seville? Well we have. They are Great!  Diane and I went to the Fisherman’s Village, this afternoon. As some of you know I did a blog post yesterday….I had my days mixed up, so we arrived at Fisherman’s Village in Marina Del Rey, CA we were expecting a Latin Jazz Band, instead to our surprise we find  ‘Seville’! May I say it was a pleasant surprise; we were listening to old school from the ‘50’s to the millennium? Rhythm & Blues, Jazz you name it. ‘Seville’ has been together for over 36 years and they were just phenomenal. As you can imagine it was not a disappointment, rather a pleasant surprise. Philemon Young, Jr., Michael Martin, Sr. and Johnnie Morrisette, Jr. were the best. I cannot think of a better mistake, I have made in yearsJ. So after we enjoyed the music and we came home and I had to do some research.  I discovered that Seville has unlimited amount of credits. They have performed as part of  “The heroes and Legends Awards” at the Universal Sheraton  at Universal Studios in CA along with notables as Gladys Knight, Bubba Knight and I could go on and on. They also appeared on PAX television special with the “Silhouettes, Barbara Lewis of ‘Baby I’m Yours’ fame. I have also discovered that ‘Seville’ has at least three recordings ‘Falling In Like’, ‘Love in a Seville way’ and ‘Toss Salad’. I will be looking for their CD to add to our collection. Evidently this was their Third Saturday after Thanksgiving in a row. They are trying to make it a tradition, I hope they doJ because then we will tooJ If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Car Buying in the Future via DocuSign! It is a dream not reality Yet!

Posted by on 5:22 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Car Buying in the Future with DocuSign! It is a dream not reality Yet! If you ever bought a car you have experienced the most hard pressure sales techniques ever. I went with Diane to buy a car. We drove into the dealership, as soon as we parked there were six Salesmen standing in front of the main entrance door.  This scene reminded me of Vultures circling around the dying person in the desert. Once we were ‘passed off’ to the floor sales person, then the drama began, from selection of the car to actually signing at the lowest price possible about 5 hours transpired. I do not have to tell you, salesman, sales manager, financial manager we finally left the car lot and Diane had a new car. Now visualize a futuristic scenario:  Diane and I walk in to a Car Dealership, we look at the cars without any Salesperson hovering over us and we test drive the vehicle. Thank the Dealership get a name and e-mail address of the designated salesperson. We go home discuss the pros and cons of the vehicles we looked at and test drove. Then we send an email to the Salesperson and discuss the strategy of how fast we want to buy the car, what colors and extras do they include in the offered price. Three four emails later we build the car and then submit our offer. Thank you DoCuSign the application, the loan documents and the sales agreement are all DocuSigned right after dinner. We go to sleep next day we wake up loan is approved, car is prepared and delivered to our home. Wow thank you DocuSign. This was a Painless, smooth transaction just like buying a home, right? Oh, that is right this is just a dream. Car Dealerships do not use DocuSign nor do they use smooth transactions. Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner Menu in Marina Del Rey,CA 90292

Posted by on 3:09 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner Menu in Marina Del Rey, CA. 90292 Many of us think of Thanksgiving Dinner as a Family & Friends get together talk, laugh and eat and drink to the point of pleasantly over indulging. We generally do not think of Thanksgiving Dinner as something out of the ordinary or something too Gourmet, or too extravagant, rather something we call comfort food. So with that said my Menu for this Thanksgiving will be:   ·         Baked Brie with water crackers and granny smith apples   ·         Hummus   ·         Cashews and other assorted nuts ( to munch on)   ·         Butternut Squash Soup with sautéed shrimp   ·         Steamed green beans with nuts   ·         Buttered Squash   ·         Mashed potatoes with  infused Cauliflowers   ·         Traditional Baked Turkey   ·         Sweet Jams   ·         Cranberry sauce   ·         Lemon Meringue Pie   ·         Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream       Most of you know that my comfort when it comes to cooking is copying the Gourmet Chefs and I feel comfortable at my level to do that on a small scale. This type of traditional comfort cooking is not my forte’ hence I am a bit apprehensive. If you are in the neighborhood please call and drop by: Oh and bring a bottle or two good wines. Most importantly bring your appetite. Now with that said I would like to Wish All my Friends, Associates, Clients and those of you who just read my blog post on and off, a Very Happy Thanksgiving Weekend and may you have a lot to be thankful about. I wish you much love and happiness!   If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. The Santa Monica CA Fire DEPT is warning against “fake” fire inspector

Posted by on 3:09 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

The Santa Monica Fire Department is warning business owners against “fake” inspectors!   I thought I heard it all in my life time, but this is a new one on me. The Santa Monica Fired Department Prevention Division is warning local business owners to be extra vigilant and be on the lookout for “fake” “Fire Inspectors”.   The Scam Artist generally come uninvited to a business and request unsuspecting employees to sign an “Inspection authorization” According to the Fire Marshal, then the Scam Artists either ask an upfront “inspection fee” or they send an invoice to the business owner a day or two later. Now keep in mind this scam is spreading throughout Southern California area not just Santa Monica because recently the Los Angeles Fire Department wrote an article to the business community that people need to be on the lookout for Scammers  waging similar havoc in Los Angeles County as well. The real Fire Inspector has proper identifications and usually the Fire Department will give notice before their arrival.   Now if you are not sure it is OK for you to call the Santa Monica Police Department and then the Fire Prevention Division at 310.458.8915 to report an incident. That way you will know if you are dealing with the Real Inspector or a Scam Artist. Thanksgiving is almost here:Tips to avoid Garbage Disposal backups!

Posted by on 7:00 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Thanksgiving is right around the corner Quick tips to avoid Garbage Disposal backups!   As most of you know this is the biggest Cooking & Eating day of the Year. There is no room for last minute disasters. Garbage Disposal Breakdown is a disaster so avoid it. Best advice I can give is, only you use your disposal when you really need to use it!   Be mindful of the items you are placing in the garbage disposal and if you live in a condominium or an apartment complex and you are not on the bottom floor be mindful of your neighbors below!   What are three of the biggest reasons Garbage Disposals do not work or they back up:   The biggest culprit is TOO LITTLE WATER! Often time’s garbage disposals break down, because there is not enough water flowing through them when you are grinding down the food remnants. To prevent this from happening, keep a steady stream of water flowing out of your kitchen sink, because as you grind the food remnant this will save the disposer. Then the last thing you want to do, is turn the water off last. Please turn off the disposal before the water, you will thank me later!   The second biggest destroyer of Garbage Disposers is: Fats, Oils and Grease in general. Under No circumstances pour any type of fat, oil or grease down your garbage disposal, which can lead to clogging your drain and cause a clog further down the system and create a sewage backup in your neighbor’s home as well. Collect your fats, oils and grease, put them in a jar or some container and drop them off at you recycling center or at least throw them in your resident trash area at the minimum.   Lastly Fibrous Rinds they are fruits and vegetable with fibrous rinds such as Lemon peel, orange peel, potato peels they are equally tough enemies of the Garbage Disposal. Amazingly bananas, strawberries and celery stalks will cause clogs as well Now that you have been warned, Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving!     If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. The Residences at the W in Hollywood,CA 6250 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood

Posted by on 5:20 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

The Residences at the W in Hollywood, CA 6250 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA   Let me start with a little bit of background history. When I relocated from Boston, MA a mere hundred years ago, Hollywood was a “dirty name” just like all new transplants we went down to Hollywood and the Walk of Fame…Scary was the best description, drugs, pickpockets, hookers and your typical inner city life you want to avoid. Robin Williams summed it up the best way, when  he said that way back when he came to Hollywood he lived in Hollywood, because that is all  he could afford  to live in Los Angeles. Now he can live in Hollywood again because he can afford it:      Well that is the ‘New in Hollywood’.   Gritty, eclectic and energetic, that is the new Hollywood. Gourmet Restaurants, Celebrity Chefs have opened restaurant in Hollywood, because they understood the energy and the magnetism. It is cool to be in Hollywood again, there is an energy unsurpassed anywhere else.   When I came to Los Angeles Hollywood & Vine was a destination place for street walkers and want to be actresses who lost their way. There was the Pantages Theater, where you did not want to Valet Park if you wanted your car back after the show. Diane & I have seen the shows:  Les Misérables, The Lion King and of course Wicked and too many others to name in this post.   Now one of the coolest hippest hotels is across the street: The W of course and they have residences for sale. You can buy condominiums that cater to all your needs. (6250 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood,CA) The owners of the Residences at W Hollywood enjoy their own private tower with a secluded entrance next to the hotel. They are greeted by their own valet, doorman, and concierge as they enter the Living Room. Prices range for a 1 bedroom 1.5 Bath from $549,000 to a high of 2 bedrooms 2. Baths up to $940,000 and Association Dues up to $1728 per month, needless to say that included Valet Parking, Full Service 24hrs Concierge, 24 hrs Security and I could go on and on.   This is actually a great Value hard to get all this for under a Million Dollars in the Greater Los Angeles Area.   If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Book signing at Vromans in Pasadena: The Finish by Mark Bowden!

Book signing at Vromans in Pasadena: The Finish: the Killing of Osama Bin Laden by Mark Bowden Another book signing at Vromans in Pasadena: The Finish: The Killing of Osama Bin Laden by Mark Bowden. Those of you who know me, are aware that not only am I  a reader, but I love action, mystery and spy stories there is only one author whose work I consistently read even though he is Non Fiction writer. He actually writes about events that happen in our life and they are not fictionalized. In case you need a refresher he wrote: Killing Pablo, Black Hawk Down, Guest of the Ayatollah and Finders Keepers to name a few. I loved his book Killing Pablo, the story of the US lead manhunt which took about 16 month  of searching and ending with the death of the most notorious Columbian Drug Lord Pablo Escobar. Anyway, today was a dreary rainy day to drive from Marina Del Rey to Pasadena; it took me about 1.5 hrs to do this short trek of 37 miles. It has been raining for about the past 24hrs, keep in mind, we are not used to rain in Southern California, not alone for such a long period of time. Then add to it that UCLA & USC was having a Football Game at the Rose Bowl adding to the extra traffic. Nevertheless, Mark Bowden is well worth the trip. He was with The Philadelphia Inquirer for twenty years and now writes for Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, and other magazines. And in his spare time wrote about 10 books. He lives in Oxford, Pennsylvania.  He is a great story teller and he talked for about an hour nonstop about his research of this book and the challenges he faced getting appointments with  the key players i.e.:  getting access and interviewing the President of the United States, The Director of the CIA, the Commander of JSOC (US Joint Special Operations Command). They were the key players of this mission outside of the Navy Seals. (This accomplishment alone would be worth writing a book about it) Then he opened up to questions, he was very gracious and answered all the questions. It was a fun seeing him again!   If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu.
