Bank of Books, Malibu, CA 90265

Bank of Books, Malibu, CA 90265 As many independent bookstores and chain bookstores have been closing over the years it is a pleasure to report that another independent bookstore has opened in Malibu, CA and is going on their sixth month of existence! I was at Point Dume in Malibu and needed a great cup of coffee and look what I found as a bonusJ. The best part is after a bit of research I discovered that not only do they sell used but new books as well. Since Malibu is about 18 scenic miles on the Pacific Coast Highway and there is another independent bookstore at the other end this makes perfect sense. Many locals would not want to drive all the way to the other end of Malibu to go to a bookstore. Hence it makes perfect sense to open one here at Point Dume. Point Dume VillageHeathercliff Rd. #109               http://www.bankofbooks.comMalibu, CA 90265(310) 457-5699     Well I did a little research and found out that the Owner is no stranger or a newbie to the book selling world.  Clarey Rudd also owns another book store in Ventura, CA between the two location and selling books on the internet they are a force in the Book Selling world. As a lover of books and always on the search for new bookstores this was truly a special treat. I wish them much success! Living in Marina Del Rey & selling Real Estate in the Greater LA area!

Living in Marina Del Rey and selling Real Estate in the Greater Los Angeles area!   Living in Marina Del Rey and selling Real Estate in the Greater Los Angeles area and having an office in Beverly Hills is clearly a recipe to run into members of the entertainment community.       I was taking Diane’s Father around to show him Beverly Hills and we had the opportunity to run into Melanie Seacat from the Television Show Betty White’s Off Their Rockers! Melanie is one of the Pranksters on the Show. If you have not seen it make sure you check it out. Truly a hilarious show!   Needless to say Diane’s father was thrilled since Melanie was very gracious to her fan and he has been watching every episode! He was a bit disappointed she did not offer him her hotel room keyJ like she does on the show to younger guysJ     http://www.nbc.com/betty-whites-off-their-rockers/about/bio/cast/melanie-seacat/665745/       If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Who is the Mystery Man in the Scottie Pippen Malibu, CA altercation?

Posted by on 11:57 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

Who is the Mystery Man in the Scottie Pippen Malibu, CA  altercation?   As most of you heard on the news that Scottie Pippen former Chicago MBA player , a  Michael Jordan’s team mate of the Dream Team, was involved in some altercation outside Nobu’s Parking lot in Malibu.  As some of you know NOBU is a great Sushi Restaurant (of Matsuhisa the Uber Chef and De Niro the actor’s fame).   Everyone has been focusing on Pippen, NOBU and now Celebrity Attorney Mark Garagos. There are various versions of what happened in this great Ocean View Malibu Restaurant’s Parking lot. No one took a picture of the mystery man. No one knows his name. Well thanks to a local Realtor Endre Barath, Jr. who happened to be in Malibu, CA and had camera in handJ here is the picture maybe or maybe not J Is this the man who was in the altercation? Well he does not seem injured in the face? Maybe the media has it backwards? Maybe he punched Scottie Pippen? Well you be the judge. Anyway here is the scene of the crime and a potential mystery manJ       If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Posted by on 10:51 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

How is the Venice, CA Luxury Real Estate Market? Check out the answer!   There was a time not that far back, when Venice was perceived as “not somewhere you would want to call home”. Times have changed. I have not heard comments like that in years!   Venice has about three or four hip cool and trendy pockets that I could think of the top of my head. The price points are also now very Luxurious tooJ well you check it out and tell me what you think!    Quietly Venice has been making the Transformation. Abbott Kinney is one of the Trendiest spots now in Los Angeles, The Venice Beach area has been also going through a major transformation and of course the Canals have been pricey from day one.   Currently there are 39 Active Listings of Single Family Homes in Venice, CA. Interestingly the most expensive home still active on the market is available for $10,500,000. Now conversely the least expensive home you can have for $750,000.   There are 14 properties where sellers are still accepting Back up Offers.   The properties you missed out because they are in Pending Status are 29. Interestingly the most expensive home was listed at $11,900,000 and the least expensive was listed at $725,000.   Year to date 92 Single Family Residences have Sold in Venice. Interestingly the highest priced sale was for $3,800,000. Now to put things in perspective of the 92 sold homes. This month alone 15 properties have closed already and the month is not over yet.   If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. The Promenade Cafe’ at the Queen Mary, Long Beach, CA 90802

Posted by on 7:18 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

The Promenade Café at the Queen Mary, Long Beach, CA There are quite a few Restaurants at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. Ironically both times we went to the Queen Mary we ended up at “The Promenade Café”. Quite frankly it is a reasonably priced Restaurant with great food. Diane had a Tuna Melt with French Fries, Linda had a Chicken Veggie Wrap with homemade potato chips, Diane’s father had had the Philly Stake Sandwich and I had the Salad Nicoise. Mine was probably the healthiest of the four and it was done truly close to the tradition, with the hardboiled egg, green beans, olives and tuna over a bed of lettuce. Anyway it was truly great! Anyway check out the pictures and you tell me if I am wrong. If you ever go to the Queen Mary and do not want to stay for Dinner, then make the Promenade Café your destination of choice. First of all, how often will you have the opportunity to eat on an Ocean Cruise Liner, might as well make the most of it.   They have small selection of wine by the glass but drinkable. I had a nice Pinot Noir and Diane had a nice Chardonnay and as you will see in the pictures Linda had a Bloody Mary and Diane’s Dad had a beer. So it was a fun way to relax after the tour of the Queen Mary and the Diane Princess Exhibit. 1126 Queens Highway • Long Beach, CA 90802 Information: (877) 342-0738 • Hotel Reservations: (877) 342-0742 • QUEENMARY.COM – See more at: http://www.queenmary.com/dining/promenade-cafe.php   Next time I will have Sir Winston on my list but we need to go later in the afternoon:))      If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Sick Sea Lions in Malibu, CA UPDATE!!

Posted by on 6:02 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Sick Sea lions in Malibu, CA Update!!    As most of you remember in March, Sick Sea lions have been washing up the coast of California, from San Francisco to Southern California Beaches. This has been going on for the entire month of March & April. Totally devastating and a sad occurrence, I almost did not want to write about these occurrences since it is so depressing. (Ultimately I did not until now)   All the news media have picked up these occurrences, the sea lion incident in Laguna Beach with the former US Representative’s daughter and husband the Astronaut Mark Kelly having their dog loose, not on a leash that killed the sea lion pup made the internet. Ironically the focus was on the celebrity status of the owners rather than focusing on the problem of why are Sea lion pups washing up all dehydrated? Ironically they did not even give them a ticket for being loose on the beach, but that is another story.   It is very disturbing when we see these animals washing ashore from Venice Beach to Malibu Beaches. Sadly what makes it so disturbing is we cannot help them. When you feel helpless that is the worst feeling in the world. Human nature is we want to help anyone in distress especially helpless animals.   We all want to help trying to bring them to the water, splash water on them. Ironically that is the worst thing you could do. The wisest move would be is to call animal control and they could call the Rescue Mammal Organizations. Well here is the update: Why am I writing it now? Well now it is not news anymore at least not sensationalized news. Wild Life Rescuers have saved around 1550+/- sea lions along the California Coast. I am happy to report that is incredible! Sadly 10 -15% percent of the rescued pups had to be rescued again! So what is the Reason for this? According to scientists close to this disaster have found that it is due to a food shortage: The Pups like to eat squid and small fish and it appears that due to the natural disaster that occurred in Fukushima, Japan last Winter has caused increased radio activity and the small fish near the top of the ocean have been decimated which in turn have affected the Sea lion pups food supply. These in turn have triggered the standings of the Sea Lion Pups. Sadly this has been confirmed by the fact that there has been a higher radio activity found in the Sea Lion Pups on the West Coast. I am grateful to the Scientists, Volunteers and all the Sea World personnel who quietly helped save all the Sea Lion Pups. Sadly this was not News Worthy! The Queen Mary: Long Beach, CA 90802!

Posted by on 2:53 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

The Queen Mary: Long Beach, CA 90802 The Queen Mary has been through a lot in her illustrious career from her maiden voyage in 1936 to her retirement in 1967. In the beginning she was the premier way to cross the ocean between Europe and the United States. All civilized and affluent people would not consider traveling by any other mode, but the Queen Mary. Then came World War II, she was then transformed into a troopship and carried about 800,000 soldiers to their destination. By the end of WWII she was fondly called “The Grey Ghost”. After she retired in 1967 the City of Long Beach, CA purchased her and has become a Tourist Attraction from all over the world. At the same time a great revenue producer for the City of Long Beach, CA. Today, the Queen Mary is not only a Tourist Destination place but a Hotel tooJ This is truly a unique Steam Ship from a bye gone era. Here are a few pictures I thought you would all enjoy. This is a post of one of at least threeJ. Since not only did we go on the Queen Mary, but we also had lunch at The Promenade (one of the three Restaurants aboard) but we also saw a special Exhibit: DIANA Legacy of a Princess.   This is was not our first time here, I remember taking a detailed tour with my parents about seven or eight years ago and it was as if we were walking with them again. This time it was Diane, her father and one of her girlfriends. We did not do the tour, this time we wondered around on our own. We focused on the exhibit and the different levels of the Ship from the outside. Hence combined the two visits, we have now even a better feel of the magnitude and magnificence of this Great Ocean Liner.   Should you be in the Greater Los Angeles Area you would do yourself a disservice if you did not spend an afternoon at the Queen Mary.   1126 Queen Highway, Long Beach, CA 90802 800.437.2934   www.queenmary.com    If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Westwood/Century City: How is the Luxury Real Estate Market?

Posted by on 11:18 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

Westwood /Century City: How is the Luxury Real Estate Market?   As most of you who read my Blog on a consistent basis have heard me mention that in Los Angeles there are many micro real estate markets. I have been breaking them down into various pockets. The West Wood Century City Market I usually break it into two groups the Condominium Market and the Single Family Residences and even there I find it could be further broken down into the various zip codes. Today I will just address the Westwood/Century City Single Family Homes.   This is such a desirable market, since it is close to everything on the West Side of Los Angeles. Most homes are about six to nine miles from the ocean and two to six miles to Beverly Hills. Now with such detailed back ground let us look at the Real Estate Activity.   Currently there are thirty (30) homes available to purchase. Of these homes $4,895,000.00 is the most expensive one available and the least expensive one you can have for $795,000.00.   There are eight (8) homes which are accepting back up offers and one is on Hold Status.   There are twenty six homes (26) in Pending Status just waiting to close. Needless to say the most important number is the Sold Status.   So year to date Eighty one (81) homes have sold and of that Fifteen (15) sold this month and we still have another week to go. The Bel Air CA 90077 Luxury Real Estate Market Report Update!

Posted by on 8:23 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

The Bel Air CA 90077 Luxury  Real Estate Market Report  Update!   As most of you remember about 23 days ago I wrote a Luxury Market Report about Bel Air, CA. In case you missed it I am enclosing a link to it here (http://actvra.in/Wxk ) as you know I indicated that the market was on fire.   Needless to say there has been so much mixed misinformation not only in the Media, but even some Bloggers who have bought into the mixed message. Hence I felt obligated to give an update of the Bel Air, CA Luxury Real Estate Market. Currently there are 76 Active Listings on the market for sale.   In addition there are 17 Properties in Back up Offer Status. In other words they are still accepting back up offers.  Two are on Hold Status (usually a sign of a Short Sale)   Twenty one (21) Properties are in Pending Status just waiting to Close Escrow.   The most important Number the Sold Status consists of Fifteen Properties (15) now keep in mind today is June 23rd, 2013, we still have five more days to have properties to Record, Close and about seven days to report this. Hence I anticipate this number will be increasing.   Therefore I would like to close with the message:  As you can see the Market did not take a pause rather continued to Steam along J so to those who are stating information to the contrary just have them look at these figures and let them revise their positions J     If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu.
