The Frye Company: Since 1863 in Boston, MA

Posted by on 6:58 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

The Frye Company: since 1863 in Boston, MA As I was walking on Newbury Street this sign and address caught my attention. I started wondering is it a stock market company? Is it a finance co which co-exists side by side with a newer company, FYI on the other corner is a CVS Store? This is of course on the corner of Gloucester St. and Newbury St. Needless to say I was busy with many other issues and did not have time to research it until I returned to Los Angeles. Wow what a surprise: The Frye Company is a Shoe Company. All these years I was not aware. Needless to say next time I will be looking for these shoes. They have to be pretty special to survive for this many years. Well let me give you a quick glimpse of their history. On March 10th, 1863 John A Frye opened s a small shop in Marlboro, MA. The shoes were not fashion icons. They were simply shoes for factory works in the town of Marlboro, MA. In 1938 John A Fry’s Grandson met a Navy Admiral who noted  in finding the Wellington style shoes he lied so much. So Frye agree to make him a pair. Next thing you know Frye was making these boots all through World War II. Via mail order the company supplied solder and pilots with the Frye Wellingtons, better known as the Jet boots. Small trivia General Patton wore a pair as well. So this store is the Flagship store of the Frye Company on 284 Newbury St. Go figure they are all over Washington DC, Chicago & NYC to name a few. Looking at the picture of the building before 9am on a Sunday morning I would have never guessed in a million years that this was a shoe storeJ Check out  the store via the enclosed  link from the insideJ   http://www.thefryecompany.com If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Garnacha Centenaria: A Spanish wine to shar with you!

Posted by on 6:20 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Garnacha Centenaria:  A Spanish wine to share with you J   As most of you know I love to try and drink good wines. I also find that you need to be cost conscious and you will find some great wines south of $20’s a bottle. All you have to do is expand your horizons and geography. There are wines outside of France, Northern California and then you will discover that Spanish wines are very drinkable as well J   So with that said next time you are at your wine store do not hesitate to pick up a bottle of Garnacha Centenaria from Spain. Keep in mind that in the past few decades, Spain’s wine industry has engaged in a great deal of modernization, with traditional practices and equipment giving way to state-of-the-art technologies. The result has been a significant improvement in quality and reliability of their wines.   I just want you to know that Spain has been making wine since close to 3000BC so there is some great wines that have been passed on from generation to generation.   Garnacha is a great grape which is a particularly versatile both in the vineyard and the winery; this may explain why it is one of the most widely distributed grapes in the world. In Spain, Garnacha is the second most planted red-wine grape variety.   The wine is a vigorous and hardy wine; once you tasted it you would want moreJ. This wine Goes well with many food groups especially if you are a meat eater, great with steaks and other meat dishes.   If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Definition of Posh is rich, well to do or aristocratic ie.:the Back Bay

Posted by on 5:57 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Definition of Posh according to the Urban Dictionary is defined as rich, well to do, or aristocratic. My definition is more like affluent, luxurious and a life style. Better yet I would give the: The Back Bay of Boston MA as an example of the definition of Posh.   If you want to visit a part of Boston that is elegant and tidy one of the first places that come to my mind is the Back Bay. It is a pleasure to walk and wherever you take your leisurely walk on Newbury Street you can enjoy the boutiques as well as the simple stores that you need to have in everyday life or restaurants or just observe the magnificent townhomes that are in between the shops and restaurants.   There are so many contrasts in architecture from different eras such as Copley square, The Prudential Center, The Hancock Tower or Newbury St. Everywhere you go there are opportunities to find something you like. Is she in deep thought? Or is she reflecting or is she just in pain?

Posted by on 5:04 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Is she in deep thought?  Or is she reflecting or is she just in pain? Or is she just resting? Looking at this picture what do you see? Someone who is thinking or is it someone just resting? Sometimes we just need to reflect about a lot of things and occurrences that happen with us, around us and not constantly talk or text or email, but rather analyze the situation. That is always the best course of action.          As I snapped this photo of the moment and  I was wondering what was she doing or thinking at that moment? The philosopher in me was wondering. Boston the best city where “old” & “young” coexist buildings that is!

Posted by on 4:31 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Boston, MA the best city where “old” & “young” coexist, building that is! As I walk down Boylston St. I see the I-Phone Store that looks like a modern building squeezed in between the old Back Bay three and four story townhomes. Words are difficult to describe how a 1700-1800 built Townhome can Coexist with a High-rises built in the 1960’s and ultra updated in the 2000’s and it is about a  fifty acre complex I am referring to the Prudential Center. Paralleling, Boylston St is Newbury St “old”, ” Established” businesses just created buildings & businesses… and we all  are wondering how is this possible?   The answer is clear: That is the Charm of Boston, MA. The old and the young coexist and prosper together. Check out the pictures and tell me if you agree or better yet tell me if you do not agree!
