Local Halloween events: in the Greater Los Angeles Area!
Local Halloween events: In the Greater Los Angeles Area. There is always the age old question, where to go what to do? Well it all depends if you have children or you are an adult, if you are single or in a relationship it makes a difference where you want to go for HalloweenJ If you are an adult and want to go to have some Adult Halloween then clearly: Wednesday October 30th, 2013 you need to be at Emerson Theater 7080 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028: This will have Haunted Theater & Music to dance and be Ghoulish! General Admission is $30 & VIP $60 have a Haunted TimeJ Thursday October 31st, 2013, Now this day the activities are almost limitless: I will highlight one: If you would like to participate in the Hollywood Pub Crawl then clearly you need to be at 1624 N Cahuenga Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90028. Make sure you are ready with costumes and be prepared for multiple venues all along the Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd with some mind numbing drink specials. Here is how it works: 1. Buy your ticket for the day, 2. Check in at the above address at 5:00pm 3. You will receive a Map of all the participating establishments and bars and when they are participating in the drink specials, generally this last for a 3 hour period. Hence there will be multiple venues up to 8 participating in the drink specials. Needless to say I would suggest you have either your App for Ueber to get a ride home or have local taxi numbers handy. General admission is $20 and there are many reasonable priced drinks from $2 for beers to $4 for shots and mixed drinks. If you do not think this is reasonable you have not went out drinking in the greater Los Angeles area Now if you are more a voyeur and do not want to drink and make a fool of yourself, then you can jump in your car and drive around your neighborhood. It does not matter if you are in Venice, Marina Del Rey, West Los Angeles or Beverly Hills. Halloween is such a special time that many Home Owners decorate their homes and their Yards very elaborately and it is a very inexpensive fun way to spend the evening. This is Free & Open to the Public. My favorite way to enjoy HalloweenJ If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Controversial Finish at the Red Sox & Cardinals Game at the World Series today! Often times in life people see things differently, the umpires, the fans and the players. Was that interference intentional? Was it accidental, the bottom line is, it does not matter? What matters is that the players need to go out and play like today did not happen. Needless to say easier said than done! This reminds me of Real Estate, one day we have a property or two or three in Escrow and then something happens and we do not have them in Escrow anymore. Does it matter if the buyer could not perform, or the seller would not perform? The result is the same. We need to get back into the game and try to find a new home for that buyer, or we need to find a new buyer for that seller. The bottom line is history is great and it gives us the energy and motivation to get back into the game tomorrow. So “GO RED SOX”!!!!J Check out the history with these picturesJ If you are looking for a Realtor who will get up the next day as if nothing happened if we lost a buyer or if we missed out on a property, then reach out to me! Are we allowed to have pets? Questions from first time buyers in Los Angeles. The answer is from a Pet Friendly Realtor in Los Angeles, CA 90064 Often time we receive inquiries from potential first time buyers who have lived in apartments all their lives outside of when they lived at home. One of the first question I get asked is are we allowed to have pets? The answer is usually a resounding YES. We need to add an asterisk : well provided your dog is not over 25 lbs or falls into a questionable breed. Now you might say yes I understand… let me clarify this is such a gray area. You can have a pet with a resume, references and an interview to overcome the objections. Looks can be deceiving. Look at this picture and what do you think? What a nice kitty well yes Jill loves us and is willing to greet anyone at the door because she judges people based on living with us…. On the other hand we see her run to the door and she growls when she sees a dog. So what does that tell you? She is not Dog Friendly. So when you buy a condominium make sure that your pet is under control and then you will not have any issues. Keep in mind in Los Angeles we have come a long way and most Condominiums have no problems with having pets. If you want to make sure you get the right place that is pet friendly please reach out to me Endre Barath,Jr. your Pet Friendly Realtor in the Greater Los Angeles area. Considering Relocating to the Greater Los Angeles area? Step one read this blog post ! Life in the Greater Los Angeles is truly awesome. The climate is second to none, compared to most climates around the world. I have lived here for almost 20 years and would not want to live anywhere else outside of a few exceptions. I have often written about the challenges that entail making a move from one part of the world to another. Relocating from one part of the country to another has its own challenges. Then there are even more challenging relocations. That is relocating with family and pets make the task even more challenging. If you are considering relocating to the Greater Los Angeles area, I would be happy to help you in the planning stage as well as in your search phase and ultimately I would help you find the right home for you. The first phase you should consider is the Cost of Living. I am enclosing a link to one of my older Blogs about this subject and it includes a Cost of Living Calculator. Check it out http://actvra.in/rmP The second phase to consider is based on your lifestyle & budget where would you be most comfortable? Is it at or near the beach? Or do you prefer more the inner city feel? Or do you want a small or a larger living area? Do you need a back yard? I could go on and on. Needless to say I would suggest that you coordinate with me and come down for a few days and I would be happy to help you find the right home that would suit your needs as well as your budget. Check out this blog about this very subject http://actvra.in/45Rr Needless to say, we will narrow down the areas based on your likes and dislikes. Once we are at that point, I might be able to show you smaller pockets that are not well known to people who do not live in Los Angeles. As an example Outpost Estates could be a place you could call home. Check out this blog about Outpost Estates http://actvra.in/HRS Since this is just one blog post of a series, I do not want to overwhelm you, please reach out to me directly and we can talk about Restaurants, Shops, Grocery Stores and Wine Stores to name a few. Yes I have written blogs about those as wellJ The best advice I can give you is: The better you plan the move, the more organized your move is the smoother the transition will be. Keep in mind this is coming not just from a Greater Los Angeles Relocation Specialist, but from a Realtor who has moved at least 26 or more times not only cross country but internationally as well. Once you made your move and settled in you will not regret it. I love living here in the Greater Los Angeles and I call Marina Del Rey home! Do you read, watch, or click on Google Doodle? If you are Airborne you will stop! Well most of the time I must admit I just go on about what I need to do. Look for something, hence I Google itJ today was a bit different. Google was celebrating the 216th year of the first person parachuting. Now that was different, I needed to go and look deeper. First of all in fairness to disclosure I am an Airborne, Ranger Infantry Captain by previous life. So my curiosity was tickled by Google. Really 216 years ago, I had a difficult time accepting this bit of Trivia. So with more research on Google J I discovered that, on October 22nd, 1797 French aeronaut Andre’-Jacques Garnerin became the first person to make a parachute jump. Ok now with that said I was totally surprised, my first jump was in the summer of 1978 at Ft Benning, Ga. I skipped my Graduation Celebration from College so I could go to Airborne SchoolJ so a mere 181 years later I had my first jump. Depending on who you talk to Airborne School is either easy or hard. Well let me tell you it is not natural for a human being to leave a perfectly good airplane does not matter if it is a propeller driven or a jet plane and or the various helicopters and jump out of it and hope that the Parachute will do the job. The reality is doing it once is OK, but doing it FIVE times you are either crazy or you are an Airborne Soldier. I found that jumping out was hard mentally and landing was hard physically. Hence I am very proud of my Airborne Silver Wings that I earned. So I salute Google for mentioning this great accomplishment and Andre’ Jacques Garnerin for leading this honored tradition. Airborne!! If you want to be represented by a tough Realtor who will jump out for you so you do not need to, feel free to reach out to me! read moreWhat would happen to Real Estate & The Economy if 30% Down Payment came about?
What would happen to the Real Estate Market , The Economy and Home Ownership if 30% Down Payment became a reality? I am asking this question because I happened to read the Los Angeles Times today and I am enclosing the article here for you to read as well. I almost fell out of my chair… If you are too busy and just want the reader’s digest version then let me summarize it here. Currently there are six Federal Agencies who are looking at a proposal that will eliminate a huge number of buyers from buying a home. Mandatory 30% down payment for borrowers who seek the best rates and terms are being proposed. Now let’s be clear the converse will be if you are unable to put 30% down then you will not get the best rates. The name of the proposal is called “QRM-Plus”: · 30% down payment or more for the purchaser, · Tougher credit standards for borrowers, · A ban against second loans. So who are these agencies? Let me list them here: 1. The Federal Reserve, 2. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC), 3. The Federal Housing Finance Agency 4. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 5. Office of the Comptroller 6. The Securities and Exchange Commission Can you imagine what the ramifications and results would be if this manages to get approved? Need I say that would stop the home sales in its tracks and needless to say it would really hurt the economy of this nation? I would like to ask each and every Realtor, Agent anyone who cares what could happen, CONTACT YOUR LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE! If you are a potential seller or a potential buyer please contact your local representative as well. This will affect more than just the Real Estate Industry!! This would affect all socio economic groups and all price points in the United States. IF you would like to read the article here it is for your convenience: http://www.latimes.com/business/realestate/la-fi-harney-20131020,0,6931943.story JUST to make Clear the deadline for our input to Congress is OCTOBER 30th, 2013!!!! Ben & Jerry’s a great Ice cream mixed with good flavors & controversy I am sure by now most of you have tasted and have favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. I must admit I had a rocky relationship with the makers and distributors of this ice cream. They came on the scene around 1978 with little fan fare in a small place called Waterbury Vermont. Once I had their ice cream I was hooked. 1988 President Regan awarded them The Small Business Person Award for being a success starting in a small rental gas station to becoming a National Ice Cream producer. Not a small feat to achieve. Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield were not your ordinary entrepreneurs. No businesses backgrounds just a mail order course on how to make Ice Cream. I loved their Ice Cream and what they stood for supporting local economies, thinking green when it was not cool and trendy rather the minority position. Of course when you have that type of spirit of preaching and influencing via your product it also can back fire. They took a political position I did not agree with supporting a Cop Killer’s release from prison….so for many years I stopped eating their ice cream, it was my way of sending them a vote with my money. Needless to say many millions of scoops later they sold their company to an Anglo-Belgian Company and I returned as a consumer. Generally there is always a bucket of Cherry Garcia in our FreezerJ.( if you have not had it you should try it: vanilla ice cream, cherries & pieces of dark chocolate named after the Guitarist of the Grateful Dead) So today we took a small stroll down Main Street in Santa Monica, CA and stopped in to one of their six Los Angeles area stores (thanks to the Anglo-Belgian Co they are all over the world not just in Vermont). If you are in Santa Monica, CA and want a great Ice Cream referral stop in at 2441 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405 and enjoy a scoop or two of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. It tastes better than out of the bucket at homeJ. http://www.benjerry.com/ If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. The Best Pumpkin Patch: Shawn’s Pumpkin Patch in Culver City, CA Over the years I have seen quite a few Pumpkin Patches, this one on the corner of South Centinela Ave & Washington Blvd in Culver City is one of the best. It is not your scary Pumpkin Patch it is just wholesome fun. There is a Maze made out of Hay, a Trackless Train called ’Thomas ‘ , eateries, lemonade stands, a fun room and even rest rooms. All geared to give children and adults a wonderful experience. It is noisy, entertaining and mostly fun. The pumpkins I saw came in all sizes and varieties including the Standard Orange from 5lbs up to 25lbs as I was eyeball calibrating themJ. There were White Pumpkins as well as the small Pumpkins and even the decorative types too. As most of you know I love to cook, hence here is a Trivia Fact for you: Pumpkins are actually a Squash Variety, since pumpkins belong to the Cucurbita family and the Pumpkins are part of the Pepo Species just like the Summer Squash, Zucchini and acorn squash to name a fewJ Hence if you see Pumpkin Flowers they are edible tooJ http://shawnspumpkinpatch.com/ If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu.
