Playa Vista ,CA. Parks Part #1
A few people have written about this very unique Urban Community, One can not say enough good things. This is the first Planned Urban Development in Los Angeles for over fifty years. What makes this neighborhood community so unique? There are about ten Parks, open space, a Library, Restaurants, coffee shops I can go on and on. Today I will talk about five of the Parks in this great semi private community. 1. Fountain Park, as the name implies, there is a colorful fountain surrounded with a patio and tables. (This park reminds me of a European center of town). 2. Crescent Park, every time when I drive by, I see residents walking their dogs, parents playing with small children, or adults playing Frisbee. No other place comes to mind where there is such a site in LA outside of Roxbury Park in Beverly Hills. 3. Concert Park, I could hardly wait for this long awaited park to arrive. There were discussion that this outdoor venue would hold evening concerts, movies in the park, block parties and other events. The anticipation and wait was well worth it. Now you can see residents with chairs enjoying the entertainment on pleasant evenings. 4. Spyglass Park, visitors, locals and residents can use telescopes to observe birds and wildlife of the Ballona Wetlands. The developers had to and wanted to make sure that this rare bird sanctuary would be protected as this new community would be built around and near it. 5. Chess Park, for the want to be Bobby Fishers of Playa Vista, you can play on oversized chess pieces and become future Grand masters. Next time I will mention the others. Interestingly enough there are more planned. read moreHow do you decide, which post you will comment on?
I was curios why some posts do get a comment and others do not? We as AR members are like little’ mini Gods’, we can determine what posts we will honor with our comments and which ones we decide to skip. So as a mare Mortal I am interested how and why some people get comments and others do not. So this is to the general membership. How do you decide which post you will honor with your comment? Is it based on that you have known the person and you want to lend them a moral support? Is it because you have an opinion of the subject and you would like to express your position? Is it that you feel politically correct, because the person that posted is a respected member, hence by you posting you are getting credit or are recognized that you are in the’ in-group’? Is it you are trying to ingratiate your self with the posting party? Or is it you are jut trying to pick up your 25 points and move up on the numbers game? I am fascinated with the comments especially that are not germane to the post. Do you actually read the post and respond? Or do you just read the comment above you and without reading the post make your comment? Do you just like to see your comment? What is your true motivation? Please share it with...
read moreWhy are foreign Nationals so interested in our Election? Why do they proselytize about our candidates?
I told myself I will not do a post about Politics on AR. So this is not a Political Statement it is a question and an observation. I am not trying to be contraversial, I am just courious. I am so amazed and puzzled, why is our Election is so fascinating to foreign nationals who can not vote in our election process? My question is directed at some of our Canadian cousins & friends who have posted political positions on AR. Why do they feel obligated to proselytize via posts and comments on AR and other venues? How many of us average American citizens know who is running for a political position in Canada, Germany, France and other countries? How many of us actually care about what political positions those unnamed candidates have? How many of us feel the urge to actually try to convert some of those country’s citizenry or just blatantly take positions on one candidate or another? Furthermore if we did know about those candidates and we did chose to taken positions and expressed to those countries citizenry the views we have, tell me how many of them would take offense and consider us meddling in their affairs? So please educate this curious, wondering American Citizen first and Realtor second, with your comments. How is this...
read moreMarina Del Rey, CA. Condominium Sales Activity Report (#3)
Without sounding repetitious another 30 days flew by. This reporting period includes one of the worst weeks on record for The Stock Market,( an 18% drop for the week of October 13,2008) Continued fears and anxiety about the credit freeze had a devastating effect for Lenders. Money became scarce. So let us look at the facts. My last report was September 29, 2008. Let me summarize what has occurred since then. There are currently on the market, for sale 199 Condominiums. As of today, there are 26 Condominiums that are pending. That is a drop of 10 since last month. Numbers like this, with the financial turmoil that is quite good in my perception. September- October (30 day period) there were 18 Condominiums that SOLD. Interestingly that is one more then during the previous thirty day period. In spite of the worst week in the financial market and a ten day period of almost no available money i.e.: credit we still had 18 Condominiums that sold. All I can say is that is great. The highest price Sale was $1,550,000 and the least expensive one sold for $350,000 one thousand dollars above the asking price. Hope you find these numbers not only interesting, but valuable as well.
