D’Amore’s Pizza in Malibu, CA is the Best Pizzaria in the area.
D’Amore’s Pizza in Malibu is the Best Pizzeria in the area. The quest for finding a perfect Pizza in Los Angeles is not as easy as you think. If you are very particular and want only a Thin Crust Pizza that is Boston Style, then you need to search hard. We have been on the search and always managed to “settle”, during the past 15 plus year living here in Los Angeles we were always comparing every pizza we had with the perfect one we were used to in Boston, MA. I must admit we had inexpensive as well as expensive Pizza from super star chefs to no name chefs and the results were mixed at best. I have been driving on PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) for many years and I kept seeing this sign, Pizza by the Slice. I was starving one day and just pulled in to get a slice or two and quench my hunger. Wow did I get a pleasant surprise. In expensive and great, what a combination, needless to say I could not wait to tell Diane of my great discovery. So the next time we drove to Malibu, I insisted not to go to a nice Restaurant for lunch, but stop at D’Amore’s Pizzeria. Needless to say she loved the pizza and since then I cannot get her to go to any of my other favorite Restaurants, because as we are heading to Malibu she insists that we stop for a slice or two of Pizza at D’Amore’s. So I decided to check out their website and I was not surprised at what I discovered: The Owner has relocated from Boston, MA and the recipe is his Grandmother’s who has a well known Pizzeria in the North End (Little Italy of Boston) http://damoresfamouspizza.com The Good news is they are located not only in Malibu, but Westwood Village (near UCLA), Downtown Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Tarzana, Canoga Park, Tustin and now even at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. So if you live near or in these communities you are in luck you can have the Best Pizza you ever had, that is Boston Style. Please do not take my word for it go on their website and check out what Ray Romano had to say. He also gave away the secret. They ship the water in from Boston to make the Crust, no wonder we love the Pizza. Income Property owners, do you have Assault and Battery Liability coverage? Well as most of you know, the Greater Los Angeles Income Property Market has been smoking now for the past two years. First, seasoned Investors started buying up everything from Duplex, Four-Units to ten plus units. They understood that renters would be afraid to purchase properties even though interest rates and prices were at an all time low. They understood that the consumer confidence was lacking. This of course created an opportunity for the seasoned investor. Tenants would be competing for properties to live in; hence rents would be increasing without the fear of losing a tenant and having vacancies. This followed by some novice or beginner investors entering the income property market. They started seeing, that if the seasoned ones were buying, maybe they should be as well. Therefore for the past two years, income properties were selling at a brisk pace. Now this brings me to my point, if you bought property recently for the purpose of investment, did you review your Property General Liability Coverage of your insurance policy? If not please check to see if you have: Assault and Battery Liability Insurance. This is very important “Assault & Battery” is generally, violence toward a victim, by anyone, staff, guests or other third party people. If you have rental property this is critical to have. Many insurance policies contain an “assault & battery exclusion”. Keep in mind property owners are frequently sued by the victim when violence occurs on or near the premises for lack or poor security. So check with your Insurance Agent or Broker and get a policy that covers this potential liability. Do you know what “Cloud on the Title” means? Generally when you hear these words, there is no need to panic. The definition of a “cloud” is an apparent outstanding claim on the title to a real property. This could mean a lot of different things, such as an example Marriage, Death, Mechanic’s lien, Tax liens, or a mortgage not re-conveyed. Most likely when we see a loan not being re-conveyed it is an indication of a situation, where the seller was the “lender” and after a buyer paid off the loan, the seller failed to go and record that the loan has been paid in full. Here are a few examples of clouds on the title: Marriage: where a single person is selling or mortgaging the property and the title search reveals that there are two people on the deed and it says they are married. Many times the “cloud on the title” can be removed by the courts. This we call a motion to file a “quite title action”. This is done by the execution and recording of a valid deed or by providing documents that a dept has been paid. Here in California you as the buyer can rest assured that until the “cloud” is removed you cannot close the sale. The Title Company & the Escrow Company will make sure that you get “clear title” or you can not close the deal. Chocolate Covered Strawberry Pie inspired by Pinterest I was looking at pictures on Pinterest , trying to figure it out. Next thing I know I saw this great picture of a Strawberry Pie. So I decided to Pin it. Next thing I know is one of my friends on Face book commented on what a great picture and recipe this is. She knows I am a cook, hence she requested a pie or at least leftovers…. Hence this created a quest for finding a recipe on how to make Strawberry Pie. I knew the most important part of making the pie is to have sweet, fresh & good strawberries. Then since making chocolate covered strawberry pie ones has to have good Chocolate, hence I believe to make the best you need to get the best. Hence I needed Ghirardelli Chocolate to complete the perfect Pie. So then after looking at various recipes I decided that this one looked like the best: 1 cup of heavy cream ½ cup of sugar 1.5 tea spoons of Vanilla Extract Whipped together until it was thick and firm Then in another container whip together Philadelphia Cream Cheese (I used 1/3 less fat) ½ cup of sugar 1 cup of melted dark chocolate chips (soften for about 1.5 min in microwave) Whip all this together Then combine both items. While you are doing this bake the Pie Crust. My favorite is Marie Callender’s Frozen Pie Crust. Once the Pie Crust is baked & done, add the filling and stuff it with as many Strawberries as you can fill it with. In the meantime melt two more cups of Chocolate Chips and drizzle over the top. Once you are done than place pie in Refrigerator to set and in about 10-20 minutes it is ready to be served. read moreThree easy steps to make Chocolate Covered Strawberries!
Three easy steps to make Chocolate Covered Strawberries! The first step is always the hardest to find good sweet strawberries. Usually in California that is easy there are Trucks on the side of the Road and they sell the sweetest strawberries you can imagine. The second step is to separate them into smaller quantities. How hard is that? Please buy enough so you have some left because you might eat the product you are trying to make. Then the third step is quite easy, buying some dark chocolate from Ghirardelli the ones that most people use for Chocolate Chipped cookies. Take about a cup full give or take and depending on your microwave zapped them two or three times for 30 seconds. Stir the melted chocolate and either dip them in the concoction or just drizzle over the strawberries and you are done. Did you know today is Bastille Day, also known as the biggest party in Paris, France? Every year July 14th is remembered by all French nationals not only in France but all over the world. Having lived in Boston, MA, I remember clearly how the French Embassy would shut down a three block section of Newbury St and would have the best street party Boston has ever seen. There would be free food, music and just a great time which would last well into the evening. Since I have been living in Los Angeles, I have planned on finding out where the great picnic is being held, but life always takes over and ’… well maybe next year…’ mentality takes over. Now with that said let me give a small history of Bastille Day and hope that next year I will have pictures of the Los Angeles celebration of Bastille Day. The people of Paris stormed the Bastille on July 14th 1790. The Bastille was a prison where people had been jailed by the King. The Bastille was mostly known for holding political prisoners and those whose writings displeased King Louis XVI. Thus the Bastille had become a symbol of the unfair repression of the monarchy. While many people think it is just to commemorate this event, actually it is a celebration of the new post-revolutionary French state. It became a symbol of the birth of the nation of France. If you would like to see a truly grand celebration of a Nation’s Birthday rivaling if not surpassing our 4th of July celebration, then please click on this link or plan your next vacation to Paris France for next year’s celebration around the 14th of July. http://photoblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/14/12741335-bastille-day-celebrations-take-over-paris?lite If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Playa Vista, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Books tell: What you are like, they tell about your personality. What do you read? What does that tell about your personality? I have been an avid reader since I was a child. Now a hundred years later I appreciate that my parents introduced me to books at an early stage. I have read many a classics and some that were forgotten as soon as I read them. As some of you who read my blog regularly know that I collect cookbooks and first edition fictions, novels and spy books. Here are a few classic moments from this past April’s Festival of Books event that was held downtown Los Angeles at the University of Southern California also known as USC to most. See if you recognize any of these authors? If not let me know and I will give hints. Now back to my question what do books tell about you, as a person? Obviously if you read only Fiction it will be different if you only read Non Fiction. If you read Historical Novels it will be different that in you read History books. My take is, it does not matter what your personality is and what you read, what is more important is that you read. I saw a comment by someone who said for every episode of The Jersey Shore you see a book commits suicide! I can safely say all our books are safe from that. So if you would like to share and let us know what you read and what you would like to read. Also see if you recognize some of these people. Have you ever had Pro+mis+Q+ous Red Wine? If you never had this great Red Wine and you like a good Meritage, than this is the wine for you. For those who know me I would not mislead you. This is the best wine I had under $20,$15,$12…..a bottle. Of course you would be shocked to know I only paid $8.99 a bottle. Oh, before I continue let me give you some definitions: The word Pro+mis+Q+ous according to the Winemaker’s definition is (Referring to many partners) the act of blending multiple, mutually attractive grape varieties in an assortment of unorthodox combinations. Implies woton disregard for convention, may result in intense flavors. Now my definition is not “may” it is intense. http://www.promisqous.com/ Meritage (pronounced like Heritage not like the French way) many people will argue about this. The reality is, it came about intentionally to separate California wines from the Bordeaux wines hence the pronunciation is American not French. Now to the ingredients: The majority will consist of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec the idea was that this blend is not just an ordinary table wine rather it is a quality wine, hence better and more intense flavors and a higher price. Needless to say I would put this wine up against quite a few Meritage Wines in a blind taste testing and I am willing to bet that you would choose this one over the more expensive wines. So with that said please try to find it in your wine store and even if they charge you $12 to $14 a bottle it will be well worth it.
