Shrimp, Asparagus, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms & Harvest Grains Blend I have not posted a good recipe in a while, therefore I felt it was time to do it todayJ. Do not be overwhelmed by my description this is an easy recipe. The most labor intensive part of this meal is the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms; once you make the stuffing the rest is fast and convenient. I recommend large mushrooms for easier stuffing (Large Crimini or baby Portabella mushrooms are the easiest way to make it) If you look at my pictures you see I did not have any, I just used plain brown mushrooms (takes more mushrooms and harder to stuff) Crab Stuffing: 1. Can of Crabmeat from Trader Joe’s (if you do not have fresh crab meat about 4-5 ounces) 2. 2 table spoon of butter (unsalted) 3. 3-4 table spoon of minced red bell pepper minced 4. About 2 table spoon of soy sauce (if none available use a bit of salt to taste) 5. Two or three table spoon of shredded parmesan cheese or any other flavor full hard cheese 6. If you like a kick, add a dash of hot sauce of your favorite sauces (I like Siracha Chilli sauce aka the rooster of Asian origin or if I want to make it milder than Tapatio of Mexican origin hot sauce) now it this is too spicy for you than black pepper to your liking) 7. Garlic & Onion sautéed in extra virgin olive oil (one or two cloves of garlic and about a third of a small onion also minced) Sautee the garlic, onions and red bell pepper add the butter soy sauce and crab meat. Wilted it add the shredded cheese mix together all the ingredients and Stuff the mushrooms with it. If it is too “loose” for you than add bread crumbs (Italian flavored, plain or panko bread crumb whatever you like or have at home) Take Asparagus clean & place it on a baking sheet add the stuffed mushrooms, you will have left over stuffing drizzle over the asparagus and the Mushrooms, bake for about 15-25 minutes whatever your taste is for level of crunchiness of the vegetables. Keep in mind after 15 minutes you need to watch and know how you like your food ( I like it around the 12-15 minutes ) What is Harvest Grains Blend? Trader Joe’s sells it in a bag, but if you do not have TJ’s near you, then you can make it yourself. It consists of: 1. Israeli Style Couscous, (about 70 per cent), Orzo (about 10 per cent) baby garbanzo beans (10 per cent) and Red Quinoa (10 per cent) I do not use their recipe when I make it. Instead of water, I use Chicken Stock for better flavor. I use the entire package, which is about 1 lb. 3.5 cups of Chicken Stock, 2 to 3 tablespoon of unsalted butter once it boils I add the bag (1 lb) bring it to boil, then reduce heat and simmer covered for about 10 minutes. Dark Clouds looming ahead: Life, Politics, Business, Weather and the Economy, what are your thoughts? I took these pictures as we were in Pasadena a day or two, before the storm which caused all the devastation on the East Coast around the 20th or 21st of October( Sandy of course). I did not have the heart to write this post as I saw what was happening on the east coast. The pictures were taken on the way to Vromans, my favorite independent Bookstore in Pasadena a day or two before Sandy made its devastating entrance on the east coast of our country. I felt as if I had a premonition with these pictures. From there we went to a new discovery, thanks to Michael Jacobs, the Pasadena Condominium Expert introducing me the Sprouts, I had a thrill. Great selections of various products at a reasonable price, OK it is not Bristol Farms, nor is it a Trader Joe’s ,but it is somewhere in between. Great value and good selections, but that is food for another blog. Then I started to say, well I will never post these pictures, because the Election is on. Dark clouds ahead in politics, which translates to dark pictures in business and I did not want to influence it one way or another with these gloomy pictures. Then I said, OK the Election is over, now only the Economy & Business is left…well I did not want to take the chance in case the economy and business was not going the right wayJ) so here we are check out these rare pictures of Sunny Southern California photos in Pasadena,CA. What language do you speak: Buyers, Sellers or your own? I find that in a Real Estate Transaction we have too many parties that have their own language. I am a big believer of keeping things simple. I understand that abbreviations are great for the people who do similar functions day in and day out. Title Officers, Escrow Officers, Lenders and Realtors they all have their own language. Now let’s get realistic the buyers consist of first time buyers, buyers who are moving up, buyers who are downsizing. There have been studies done that generally a Real Estate transaction takes place every seven years. Keep in mind when the economy is challenging like it has been in the past couple of years that average increases. So what are the odds that your buyers and sellers will know these abbreviations? My take is, very slim, therefore if we want to relieve stress from a Real Estate Transaction we need to speak the language that buyers and sellers understand. There is no need to add extra stress for them by not understanding the various terms. Take my word, I had to learn German & English as my second and third language and it was stressful until I could converse in my new language, because Hungarian was my first language. Now I have also learned Technical Languages, Computer Languages and Internet languages. So I consider myself speaking at least five or six languages. Keep in mind and I was not buying the most expensive purchase of my life, so add that to the equation. I will give you a few examples abbreviations that are being used every day in our business. Some words you will know, others you will not, and hence you can imagine how your clients will feel. Trust me it is cool to be clear and it might even insure that you will close the transaction much smoother and you might even get referrals for making the process go so smoothly! So here we go I will start with the easier ones and work my way up to the more challenging ones: MLS,NHD,9A,TDS,AVID,SWBSA,PRELIM,PCOR you get the message, I could go on and on.
