Latest update on Endeavour’s slow voyage to its final destination!
Latest update on Endeavour’s slow voyage to its final destination the California Space Center Well here we are, Endeavour is slowly moving along Los Angeles Streets to the excitement of the local residents and those who came from all the way as far as Australia, Nebraska ….I could go on and on. This is not just a “local event” it is an “International Event”. Well as the old saying goes “P….Poor, Planning, Prevents, P….Poor Performance” (The Ranger in me had to say this) well a small glitch in the planning Caused a little delay in The Space Shuttle’ move to cross over the 405 Freeway. The benefit TOYOTA Motors Corporation gets a fantastic Commercial; they will use a Toyota Tundra to pull Endeavour across the 405 Freeway, because the crawlers would have been too heavy to cross the 405 Freeway with the Space Shuttle. Toyota could not have afforded to pay for this fantastic opportunity. Thirty minutes of being on the News in the Greater Los Angeles area….I am sure this will go viral across the word. What a priceless Marketing Opportunity for Toyota Motor Corporation. Secondary Benefit: was the Legendary Donut Shop: Randy’s Donuts a Los Angeles Historic Icon got a well deserved Free Marketing ,thanks to this glitch by Endeavour being stuck in front of them. I wonder did they run out of Donuts. There were a lot of spectators waiting for the forward progress of Endeavour. An hour delay turned into a huge Marketing Opportunity for Toyota, Randy’s Donuts Shop and the Space Shuttle. There were a lot of happy spectators who came to see the Space Shuttle and they got a lot more than a few seconds of what they anticipated, instead they got to see this recognizable Space Shuttle for about an extra hour. If you missed my previous post please check them out here. My Previous Post about the actual move of the space shuttle from LAX to the California Space Center (http://actvra.in/JV5 ) This post was about actual landing of the Space Shuttle in Los Angeles (http://actvra.in/HXJ%20 ) If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, Brentwood, Bel Air, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Mission 26th of the Space Shuttle Endeavor: Endeavor is making its final trip to the museum! (photo credit Sandra Oshiro) Astronaut Mark Kelley has been on two Space Shuttle Missions on the Endeavor. He is going to be on the final mission too: Bitter Sweet! This will be a 12 miles mission and ironically the shortest final mission, but probably the most challenging one: The Trip is on Los Angeles Surface Streets! The last Astronaut who flew the Space Shuttle to land in LAX was NASA astronaut Mike Fincke, who flew on Space Shuttle Endeavour’s final mission to space, talks with the media early Friday morning prior to Endeavour’s landing at LAX. Credit: John Schreiber This final mission has been full of controversy, people have been accusing the coordinators of destroying Trees, and not being considerate of the environment….I could go on and on. I did not write about all this, because I did not want to add fuel to the fire. Now that this mission is starting October 12 – 13 LAX /United Continental Hangers to the north side access road in the morning around 08:00am, hence I wanted to set the record straight prior to the final mission! The Endeavor finishes its *second* fly-over past Venice beach – I guess it was so nice, they did it twice! Credit: Julie Dole Neighborhood groups and residents aired complaint at the Board of Public Works about pending requests reference removal of trees in Los Angeles, Westchester and the City of Inglewood to make way for the shuttle’s transport from LAX to the Science Center. The reality: The Science Center has received approval to remove almost 400 trees. In turn the center agreed to replant Four Times as many trees, including larger trees and provide up to five years of tree maintenance and pay an additional $400,000 toward tree trimming. I am actually impressed how the planners designed the route, 1. To minimize traffic congestions, 2. Make arrangements for the Endeavour’s 78 foot wing span and its height of 58 feet, limiting damage to power lines, street lights and trees. I call that quite incredible! I would like to send out a special Shout Out to the Westchester Rotary Club for their impressive volunteering “to shepherd the Endeavour as she will linger for several hours in Westchester in the parking lot at the corner of Sepulveda and La Tijera Boulevards. I am so glad I saw this historic landing of the Endeavour at LAX, as I was flying out of LAX to Boston, Ma. Now I will look forward to visiting the Endeavour at its final resting place! Bruschette with a new twist: Guacamole on top of the basic Bruschette What is Bruschette? To some people it is something they heard of but never tasted. For others, mostly all who have Italian background or love to eat Italian food, it is an appetizer before dinner. To the purists there is basic Bruschette and then there is my versionJ So with that said Good Basic Bruschette consists of a good quality loaf of bread. I like sourdough bread for the extra hidden flavors. I like to cut it into about half inch to three quarter inch slices, then take fresh garlic and rub both sides and drizzle it with good extra virgin cold pressed olive oil. I find this is the most important part, if you use less than top ingredients the end product will be reflected in less quality flavors. Toast the Bread in the oven at about 425 degrees a few minutes or Broil it on both sides. Now the most important ingredient is good, fresh, ripe tomatoes squeeze the juice and seeds out and chop into small pieces and place on top of the toasted bread. Drizzle with more extra virgin cold pressed olive oil and a bit of salt to taste. Place back in to the oven for a few minutes. Grill or Broil for a few minutes and you will have basic Bruschette. Now all you need is fresh basil leaves to add prior to serving. Now add my version: instead of putting the tomatoes on top of the toasted bread make, fresh guacamole on top of the toasted bread and then add the diced tomatoes and top off with fresh basil! If you need my recipe of my guacamole please let me know and I will send it to you! Santa Monica Farmer’s Market one of the best in the area! As most of you know I love to cook, but to be a good cook you need good ingredients. So needless to say after not being to this Farmer’s Market in a while, I had to question myself: WHY NOT? Needless to say I was just going to post the pictures without words, but I could not help myself. So if you want to go to a good and plentiful Farmers Market Wednesday s & Saturday s they have it near the Third Street Promenade between 2nd & 4th Streets on Arizona Ave. Do not miss it if you want fresh produce, much better than the Chain Stores. BTW bring your own bag because Santa Monica went Green and you cannot get plastic bags anymore from the Growers! Free Advice to Buyers & Sellers in the Greater Los Angeles Real Estate Market I am a Visual Person and I enjoy great pictures, charts and drawings. Anything that catches my eye, I try to delve into it. As most of you know, the definition of ‘delve’ is to carry on intensive research for data and to investigate deeper into the subject. Now with that said, I recently read an article published by Realestate.com comparing the National Real Estate Market to a Roller Coaster Ride. This article & the visual caught my interest. (For your convenience here is the article http://www.realestate.com/advice/riding-the-trillion-dollar-real-estate-recovery-roller-coaster-56135 ) It was not that long ago when people were comparing the Real Estate Market to a Bubble. I find both analogies interesting and in some respect accurate. Ironically at the same time I also see this as meaningless banter and of little value to the potential buyers and sellers of real property in their local micro markets. If you want to impress your circle of influence at a dinner party or if you crave for attention in the media, than you carry on conversations in person or via your blog about Bubbles & Roller Coaster Rides of Real Estate and throw out some huge numbers such a Trillions of Dollars and you will be getting noticed. Ironically we have become a society of “sound bites”, “catchy headlines” and we generally lack the attention span for details. The sad truth of what has been influencing buying and selling of Real Estate for the past ten years has been what was reported in the media and unfortunately often times not necessarily accurately. Real Estate buying and selling in the past 13 plus years has consisted of: 1. Trends, 2. Herd Mentality, and 3. Momentum. Real Estate has always been local and the Real Market which I represent buyers and sellers in, is the Greater Los Angeles Real Estate. This is such a large and diverse area, hence it is even more critical to be familiar with the Micro Real Estate Pockets. As an example I will use Beverly Hills as the center point for my illustration. Potential Buyers could be searching in the Ultra Luxury Market of $20 million and above or there could be potential buyers in the $5 million to $10 million range as well as buyers who could be searching between $1million to $3million ranges. All these homes could be found within a 15 mile radius from my Office. At the same time there could be homes in the price points south of $1million as well even to the point of average sales price of $250k for a home. Hence as a buyer and seller, you absolutely need a seasoned, knowledgeable Realtor who can guide you and let you know about the different Micro Pockets. Trends are important, but more importantly you should buy a home to live in. It is a simple concept, live within your means and stay for a long period of time, than you will be fine. Leave the headlines & sensationalisms to others and focus on finding a nice home that you look forward to going home after you worked hard all day. If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation...

Last weekend we had Carmaggedon II and this weekend we have “Obamajam” Those of us who live in the Greater Los Angeles, know we have many challenges moving from point A to point B due to too many vehicles and not having a good enough Public Transportation System as an alternative to driving in the Greater Los Angeles Area. (But that is the topic for another post) My purpose is a Public Service Announcement to let all of you who are planning to be on the Road tomorrow in the Greater Los Angeles, you might want to reconsider or find different ways to get to your destination. According to the Los Angeles Police Department they are advising all motorists to stay away from the following neighborhoods, which the President’s Motorcade will be taking. Now with that said avoid these streets if you can: Sunday: 12:30pm – 2:30pm the areas of Pico Blvd between Overland Ave & Beverly Dr. Avenue of the Stars Between Olympic Blvd and Sunset Blvd. 3:00pm – 5:00pm Sunset Blvd between Beverly Glen Blvd & Doheny Dr. N Whittier Dr between Sunset Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd. 5:00pm – 7:00pm Avenue of the Stars between Wilshire & Pico Blvd. Motor Ave between Pico Blvd and the 10 Freeway as well as Streets around LA Live and the Nokia Center. 9:30pm – 11:30pm Motor Ave between national Blvd & Pico Blvd and Avenue of the Stars between Santa Monica Blvd and Pico Blvd. Monday: 7:00am Avenue of the Stars between Santa Monica Blvd & Pico Blvd. One of the big events will be in the afternoon a “30 Days to Victory” fundraiser concert and rally at the Nokia Theater downtown Los Angeles. Have you heard of Bank of America’s Mortgage Forgiveness Program? Bank of America recently has announced that they are in the process of mailing out to approximately 150,000 customers information, that there will be an automatic erasure of their liens on their second mortgages. So what does that mean in plain English? The intent of this is to put the homeowners in an improved financial situation by reducing their monthly obligations and potentially create for them equity in their homes. According to B of A, they are offering home owners who are behind in their loan payments the opportunity to have their remaining second lien mortgage dept eliminated. This offer will eliminate the full unpaid principal balance on the second loan. The objective is to help the homeowners avoid foreclosure whenever possible. This should help many underwater and financially distressed home owners remain in their homes and get back on their feet. To qualify the customers must have a second loan owned and serviced by Bank of America. I t does not matter who owns and services the first loan. The bulk of the second loans that are eligible for this program are in default in their subordinate lien position. According to Bank of America the customers can always drop in to the 50 plus Customer Assistance Center throughout the country or call 1.800.669.6607 or visit http://homeloanhelp.bankofamerica.com Should you need help with selling your home or if you have additional questions of what you can or should do please feel free to reach out to me. Placing Productivity on Steroids: How can you accomplish that? This post was inspired by my manager, who sent out a note with someone’s blog. The message really resonated with me. So to summarize in my own words: We all can agree no matter what profession we are in, wether you are a Mortgage Broker, Realtor, Home Stager, Cook, Attorney, and Financial Consultant what really matters is we need to have a PLAN! Having the PLAN is the essential ingredient! What most people forget is that planning a task is not enough we need to match the energy level to the task. Now with that said when are you at the most productive level? When are you most focused? When is your attention level at the best? Well Oscar Wilde, Irish poet, novelist, writer of “The Picture of Dorian Gray” once said: “Only Dull People are Brilliant at Breakfast”J so with that quote, you can imagine that I am not an early morning person. I quietly enter the world with two mugs of coffee and check my emails, before I speak to anyone. I am also very efficient late at night when I communicate with my International Buyers and International Sellers from Asian and Europe! Everyone’s attention level is tied to their energy level. Hence some tasks require our full attention and full focus. There are other tasks that do not require full attention. There are activities you can do while doing something else at the same time. Now with that said when are you most efficient to do focused work? When are you at your weakest point? If you know you are ahead of many people. I would recommend if you do not know the answer, search your soul and identify when you are most efficient and then handle those tasks that require your 100% efficiency. Do not let anyone steer you away from those peak performance times. Time block, do not answer your phone, let the machine take a message and coordinate meetings face to face, over the phone or via email at your Peak Performance Times. Ask yourself these questions: 1. When is your energy level the highest in the day? 2. When is your energy level at the lowest? 3. When can you find the time to do something that requires your full attention without any distractions? 4 What tasks can you do when your energy is at its weakest point? If you can answer these questions, I am confident you will be more successful! To your success! If you are a consumer who is considering buying or selling a home, investment real estate, vacation homes, or beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, Brentwood, Bel Air, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Culver City, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu.
