Enterprise FISH Co in Santa Monica, CA 90405!

Posted by on 8:03 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Enterprise FISH Co in Santa Monica & Santa Barbara, CA If you are looking for a casual and fantastic Seafood  Restaurant, the answer is clear to me” Enterprise FISH Co” in Santa Monica, CA. They have been around since 1979 and are still busy as ever. They also have a nice Wine Selection by the Glass as well. The Restaurant has an East Coast Feel to it, since there is a long bar, where you can actually eat not just drink.  Diane & I have often visited this casual Dining Establishment! The food is very well prepared and the serving portions are more than enough. Once you leave you will not feel that you did not eat enough. The portions are very generous! The other day, we stopped in for a late lunch after we saw our Accountant. (As you know it is getting close to Tax Time) and I had a Cup of Boston Clam Chowder. Needless to say I was so hungry that I could not even take a picture of it. While I was inhaling this great Clam Chowder, Diane was busy inhaling the freshly baked Bread. She ordered the Mesquite Grilled Seafood Caesar Salad served with Blackened Prawns on a Mesquite Braised Romaine stack and over it there was almost a pound of Dungeness Crab meat.  I chose the Fish Sandwich with Albacore. I think we should have switched the meal, since I prefer more of the spicy and she prefers the more bland foods. So the real benefit was, I ended up with the majority of the Grilled Spicy Shrimp. The best part is the service was equally good not just the preparation.   Enterprise Fish Co                               &       now they have also opened one in    174 Kinney St                                        on    225 State St   Santa Monica, CA 90405                              Santa Barbara, CA   http://www.enterprisefishco.com   If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. VCA had a Grand Opening Style Open House at their New West LA Facility

Posted by on 6:27 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

VCA had a Grand Opening Style Open House at their New West LA Facility! As most of you know Diane & I support Rescue Organizations and we have a soft spot for not just our pets, but  for all animals. So with that said Diane was trying to make sure that our pets have all the medicine & food at home, since she is going to Boston for few days. So after we left the Santa Monica Art Walk she wanted us to go by the two different Veterinary Hospitals to pick up the medicine at (ASAC which stands for Animal Specialty & Emergency Center) in West Los Angeles (http://www.asecvets.com)   1535 Sepulveda Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90025 Neighborhoods: West Los Angeles, Westwood   (310) 473-1561   Once we picked up the medicine off we went to VCA to get the special food because of Jill’s sensitive digestive system is the reason we have all our pets on The Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Protein Food needless to say we had to pick this up at VCA at their New Facility    1818 S Sepulveda Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90025 Neighborhood: West Los Angeles (424) 666-2899 http://www.vcawla.com   By this time I was starving since the lines were too long at the Art Walk to eat. My intention was at this point to grab some food, but we could not agree on what fast food type we wanted hence the trip to the first and then to the second Veterinary Hospitals. Well what a surprise, they were having a Grand Opening of their New Facility. Diane must have thrown away the invitation as typically she does with Junk MailJ So instead of me telling you why not just show you what type of Free Food was waiting for usJ       If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Santa Monica CA Airport Art Walk: > than 60 local artists & performers

Posted by on 11:30 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

Santa Monica Airport Art Walk: more than 60 local artists & performers The Seventh Annual Santa Monica Airport Art Walk was held from noon to 5pm. This was a Free event to all those who came. Not only was entrance free, even the parking was at no cost. This was created to showcase the local artist and allowed the public to visit the Studios where they actually create the artwork. Diane wanted to go, needless to say it was an easy arm-twisting for her to get me going, and having had a Grandfather and Mother who used to paint therefore I am partial to looking at other artists’ creations. The Museum of Flying was also open, featuring the historical exhibits as well as Docents explaining the art of flying in the Flight Simulators and actual Cockpit of one of the Fed/Ex planes.( see one of my previous blogs  about the Museum   http://actvra.in/Qm5 ) Visitors had the opportunity to go into the various studios and watch artist painting as well as sculptors and ceramics being made. In addition there was live jazz music and of course it would not be an event in the Greater Los Angeles if there were no Food Trucks presentJ This was a very enjoyable event. I loved the fact that the organizers created “The Art Walk Stamp Hunt” since the entire event was held in five different converted Airplane Hangars to find the hidden “stamp” you were guided to stop in at all the events. Therefore to get the “secret price” you had to find and stamp your card at all five points. We all love winning something. Well the price was fun too: you had the option to choose either a Poster of a Vintage Plane or you could get a model Bi-Plane kit which you would have to put together and display at your homeJ Needless to say if you wanted a Caffein Fix there was a Truck for that as well:) If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Quick light Swordfish Dinner, Green Beans & mushrooms!

Posted by on 7:16 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Quick light swordfish dinner, and Green Beans & Mushrooms. Looking for a quick, easy and light dinner, well my suggestion is try a Swordfish with fresh Green Beans. When you come home from a long day and you only want to make a fast, but great meal, try this meal. This is such a luxurious feast and still an easy meal to prepare,( you will be glad you tried it). The meal is light because we  are not using potatoes nor rice. Then on top, nothing is fried, everything is steamed and baked. Most of the flavors are natural, hardly any seasoning. The Ingredients are: Fresh or Frozen Swordfish, (I prefer fresh, never the less Trader Joes or Sprouts only carry Frozen Swordfish and they are almost as good as the fresh ones) Sundried Tomatoes (either in a jar with olive oil or just plain in a package will do) Fresh Green beans Mushrooms of any sorts Fresh Basil & & Sea Salt Prepping the meal: While you are cleaning & cutting the beans, start marinating the swordfish in either lemon juice, orange juice or blood orange juice, Olive Oil and a bit of Soy Sauce. Warm the oven to about 425 degrees Fahrenheit I like to boil the Green Beans in chicken or vegetable stock. While you are baking the Sword Fish you can cook the Green Beans. Depending if you have frozen of fresh Swordfish 12-15 minutes bake it in a separate baking pan. Prepping time is about 15 minutes & baking total 25-30 minutes and you are done. The basil & the citrus zest you add for flavor and decoration when plating the dish. Bon Appetite! If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. March 15,2013 better known as: The Ides of March!

Posted by on 10:50 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

March 15, 2013 better known as: The Ides of March! If you are a student of ancient history, then you would know that The Ides of March is considered as March 15th. Most people know this, because of William Shakespeare’s Play Julius Caesar. I have always enjoyed world history and particularly Roman History. Well for those of you who were dozing thru history classes, just as a quick reminder. Julius Caesar was assassinated in front of the Statue of Pompey on March 15th 44BC. If you read about the Roman calendar you would discover  that ‘ The Ides ‘ is generally on the 15th of most months, there are a few months when it is on the 13th. Very few people know that it was based on the day there is supposed to be a full moonJ Hum I wonder if that had anything to do with the untimely death of Julius Caesar. Thanks to William Shakespeare there are a couple of other famous phrases we connect with March 15th. One of them being the Latin Phrase “Et tu Brute” (You too Brutus), the dying words of Julius Caesar in the play; the other being the Soothsayer’s warning to Julius Caesar: “…beware of the Ides of March…”       If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. We have a new Pope: let’s celebrate with a mysterious Wine order !

Posted by on 8:07 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

We have a new Pope Let’s Celebrate: Mysterious Wine Order in Culver City, CA We have a new Pope Let’s Celebrate: Mysterious Wine Order in Culver City, CA thanks to Page One on Google!   I have to admit I was very excited as I was watching the news… I heard the most interesting bit of News Trivia.  There is a Wine Store in Culver City, CA that received a very unusual order…. As you know I am a Wino so I my ears were peaked! J       Well let me share with you:   The “Redd Collection” (http://www.reddcollection.com/)   310-202-REDD (7333)   8440 Warner Dr, Unit C   Culver City, CA 90232         The Redd Collection received a call from a gentlemen, It just happened that the Owner Mike Carpenter answered teh phone. He was asked if his store had any 2008 Papale Primitovo di Munduria and when he answered in the affirmative, then he was asked dif he had at least 115 bottles? When he answered in the affirmative he was asked if he shipped overseas. He answered yes, next thing you know he has an order that is being shipped to the Vatican. Now let us look at this order closer.   115 bottle of wine times $20 per bottle for shipping via Fed/Ex, this translates to a very nice order from a local wine store! What is very unusual is that the Wine is from Italy and it is bought and shipped back to Italy. OK this is quite unusual to me anyway!       Now to make it more interesting Papale Primitivo at the Redd Collection is selling for approximately $20 per bottle. I wonder what it would be selling in Italy. Well I did a bit of internet search thanks to Google and discovered had the Gentlemen ordered this wine in Germany he would have paid about $10.87 per bottle and I would bet the price to ship it would have been less as wellJ     We have many questions and one of them is : So why this bottle? Well it turns out this has been the favorite wine of Pope Benedito XIII in the 18th Century and since that time it was called “Papale” so this makes me wonder who is it for?               Is it for the outgoing Pope Pope Bendict XVI or the incoming Pope Francis I?  The take away for me was that THE INTERNET IS WORKING. Here we have a large order of Italian Wine being ordered from Italy and shipped to Italy. Why? Thanks to Google the Wine Store was on page one of Google, i.e.:  on top of the list. So if you think you do not need the Internet and you do not need to be on page one then think again!       Here is testimonial that it is key to have your business on page one of the Internet. It does not matter if you sell Wine or Real Estate, the key is to be on page one!       If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in...

Temperature Differences within Los Angeles an interesting Phenomenon!

Posted by on 6:54 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Temperature Differences within Los Angeles an interesting Phenomenon! Temperature differences within 12 miles of Los Angeles, CA. Locals, who live here, are accustomed to it. Visitors, Relocation Clients and people living in other parts of the country are always surprised to hear about this phenomenon. OK make a guess, it might surprise you to find out what the temperature differences are. As a living example, I left this morning and it was 59 degrees along the coast i.e.: Marina Del Rey, CA. We went and looked at my vacant lot on Queens Court (   http://actvra.in/dGn )  on the Sunset Strip that is my buyer from China and I.  I drove about 12 miles and travel time was about 45 minutes (that is food for another blog post) The Temperature was 72 Degrees. When we finished with the showing I was heading home, back to Marina Del Rey, CA. I was amazed to see that the Marine Layer was coming in. Some people think it is fog, but it is not. It is a cloud coming in from the ocean and dropping the temperature to a cooler state.   My cars outside temperature showed 57%, now that does not seem so bad for people living on the East Coast of the United States, but for us locals it is huge. We need to plan on bringing a Jacket, a Sweater and be prepared to shed them as we go to West Los Angeles, CA.  Now keep in mind there is an additional difference of Temperature if we would go to the San Fernando ValleyJ   If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Day in the Life of a Relocation Realtor in Malibu CA BTW AAA is Great!

Posted by on 9:13 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Day in the Life of a Relocation Realtor in Malibu, CA.  BTW Malibu AAA is the Best! To give a quick background, I was out with Relocation Clients from China and we went to Malibu looking for homes. They were in my Lexus RX and we just arrived at our second appointment to view a home. This great home was listed at $2.8million. The home had a fantastic panoramic ocean view hence it was a priority to see it. Instead of being met by the agent, the sellers were going to show us the home. (Bit surprised that in this price point the listing agent would not take the effort to show us the home, but that is another subject). Once the sellers realized that there were two children with us and one child was about 3.5 years old and the other was 1.5 years old. Needless to say they did not want the children to go through the house. In all fairness to the sellers, they had many valuable figurines and antiques in their home. So the homes showing became a two part viewing, with one parent going through the home first while the other parent stayed in my car with open doors and light on with the children. Needless to say I escorted the first parent and then planned on doing the same with the second.  Thirty minutes later the second parent came in since the seller was very detailed explaining his home. FYI the home was custom built with the best of materials and he wanted to convey this to us. As the viewing continued, my client mentioned that she left my car door open. Due to a communication misunderstanding, I thought she did not lock the car vs.  that she left the door wide open. Another thirty minutes transpired and we were ready to go to our next showing. As you can imagine my surprise that my car door was wide open and I could not start the car. Amazingly, you all have heard stories that AAA might take 45 min to an hour to get to a place to help out. Needless to say in Malibu things move differently. After when the community’s demographics consist of Multi Millionaires to Billionaires even AAA responds quickerJ. Ten minutes later the AAA truck and the mechanic was there, he jump started my car, did a diagnostic test and assured me, that I had about 30 per cent left on my Battery and my Starter was fine at the same time discovered that my hydraulic hood holder went bad as well. Now interestingly enough while we were calling AAA the owner of the home graciously suggested that I could use one of his cars, so we could continue with our showings of the other home. I was truly amazed and grateful for the generosity of the home owner who understood the stress and wanted to alleviate some of it for me. He was truly a kind and generous person and I really appreciated it. I was not accustomed to this treatment. I graciously declined and with a fifteen minute delay we were on the road again. All it cost me was a $10 tip to the mechanicJ and a bit of embarrassing half an hour. More importantly it...
