Beverly Hills Cops: The movie 1, 2…and now #4? OK I must admit in 1984 the movie with Eddie Murphy as Axle Foley was great, then came the movie Beverly Hills cops #2. I enjoyed it but was not thrilled by itJ somewhere along the way I missed Beverly Hills Cops #3 and now I hear that Beverly Hills Cops #4 is in the works. Mastro’s restaurants: One of the best Steak Houses in the country!

Posted by on 6:19 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Mastro’s Restaurants: One of the best Steak houses in the country Ok I have eating less and less Steaks, red meat etc. I could go on and on. I must share with you, that I always thought that Mastro’s was a Beverly Hills Restaurant and started to spread to the rest of the country. Well I must admit I was wrongJ Mastro’s Steak Restaurant was actually founded in Scottsdale ArizonaJ and wow long and behold you would not believe this but now they are all over the country: Las Vegas, Newport Beach, Thousand Oaks, Palm Desert, Chicago and Beverly Hills, CA to name a few! Needless to say I have been to the Beverly Hills Restaurant and loved it. Personally I like a bit quieter place so I can enjoy the conversation and the meal. On top of that thanks to being forewarned I bought my own wine instead of what they had on the menuJ Needless to say I was glad, the bottle I bought was around $75 that I paid for and something very similar from the same winery not as good as mine was on the menu for $300+ per bottleJ http://www.mastrosrestaurants.com/     Needless to say if you are wondering this was at the Beverly Hills Restaurant so are these pictures! If you are considering buying or selling a luxury home, or an ultra luxury home, or luxury investment real estate, or luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu. Renaming the Marina Freeway to The Ballona Freeway: what’s in a name?

Posted by on 11:08 pm in Active Rain | 0 comments

Renaming the Marina Freeway to The Ballona Freeway: what’s in a name? Many of us who are Realtors understand the value of Branding. There is a lot in a name. It appears that Environmental Activists agree with this idea. Amongst locals the Marina Freeway is called “the 90” since it is the number given by the state many years ago. So, where do ideas come from? Often times it comes from obscure events or occurrences. In this case the idea was born about five years ago, when Los Angeles Times columnist Pat Morrison floated the concept of changing the name of the freeway at an awards ceremony. So fast forward to today the 90 Freeway known as the Marina Freeway at least the name will be on the Docket for legislators to vote an and changing the name to “The Ballona Freeway”. Now keep in mind the 90 Freeway cuts through the Ballona Wetlands. I am all for the idea, because if you hear the name over and over, it keeps the importance of protecting the wetlands and the ecosystem in front of everyone. Just like Realtors want their name kept in front of buyers and sellers to be remembered. Amazingly it works. So hope that this great idea will not be tabled or forgotten when the legislature reconvenes next yearJ (yes I know, but that is another blog post about the time and effort politicians workJ) Now keep in mind this just does not only Playa Del Rey, Playa Vista & Marina Del Rey but the entire Southern California and the greater part of Los Angeles. After all this is our Wetlands we are trying to preserve. Why is there a new Wildlife along Avenue of the Stars in Century City?

Posted by on 7:20 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

Why is there a new Wildlife along Avenue of the Stars in Century City? This question has been asked by many, but few know the reason. Around the middle of November 2012 there were 22 animal sculptures place along Avenue of the Stars. These 22 “life-size bronze animal sculptures” were made by Gwynn Merrill. Some were Tigers, deer, panthers, big horn sheep, horses and even an eagle depicted in flight. The question was WHY? The Century City Chamber of Commerce Art Council’s Sculpture committee decided to humanize the glass, concrete, asphalt and steel high-rise neighborhood. The vision was awesome to celebrate the human side of Century City by integrating the sculptures in this urban and commercial center. When one comes to Century City one this of the heart of Los Angeles I know of no other city in the US that has two Downtowns. Everyone who has seen the sculptures loves them and I bet not many people know that this Exhibit will be taken down in October 2013. How sad. This could be a destination place for Tourists and Locals to see this great exhibit. It makes me wonder we come up with a great idea, but then decide it is only temporarily we will have this. How about a movement to make this a permanent location for these sculptures? Please let me know where I am going wrong with this idea? El Segundo is a City in Los Angeles County in California LAX’s neighbor!

Posted by on 5:18 am in Active Rain | 0 comments

El Segundo, California neighbor to LAX ( Los Angeles International Airport) that is. El Segundo is a city in Los Angeles County, California. Many people think it is part of Los Angeles, well yes and noJ. El Segundo was incorporated on January 18th, 1917 as one of the Beach Cities of Los Angeles Country and part of the South Bay Cities Governments. El Segundo translated from Spanish means’ The Second’ as in the second Standard Oil refinery on the West Coast. Since the first Standard Oil Refinery was in Richmond in Northern California. After many name changes what we know as Chevron and interestingly enough soon the company will be in its second century of operation. Originally this geographic part of the Los Angeles coastal area was settled by the Chumash and Tongva Native American tribes. Now keep in mind this was hundreds of years ago. Many aerospace companies have facilities in El Segundo such as Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman to name a few. El Segundo is also the home to the Los Angeles Air Force Base and the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) which is space-related acquisition company for the military and as I mentioned earlier the Chevron oil refinery. Although El Segundo does not boast of Hollywood’s who is who there are a few Sports Celebrities  who call El Segundo home the most notable is George Brett Hall of Famer! Demographically El Segundo has a population of about less than 20,000 residents and is not one of the most affluent communities in the greater Los Angeles area, rather it is more middle class and some might even call it blue collar. Should you have more questions about this great community adjacent to LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) please reach out to me directly.
