Sequoia National Park in California is a must visit destination!
Sequoia National Park in California is a must visit destination! My father loved nature and wanted to see as much of it as he could. On one of their visits, he insisted on visiting the Sequoia National Park. Diane and I were not too excited, once we got there we were very glad he insisted. So I wanted to share some of these pictures with you and recommend you visit this wonderful National Park with friends or family. It will be memorable and you will thank me for it. After leaving Moro Rock on the way to Crescent Meadow we drove thru this Fallen Giant Sequoia. This Sequoia fell across the road in 1937 and it the width is 17 feet wide and it is 8 feet high. It is better known as “Tunnel Log” OK I can not help but give you another picture. Tellme if you are not sold about a vacation here? Thank you mom and dad. The Quest for Karla, by John le Carre’ a must read before December or finish Ulysses by James Joyce? I have been faced with a dilemma, as some of you know I love to Read. There are many Realtors who happen to like reading. Hence I do not consider myself a rare breed. So with that said I have been reading Ulysses by James Joyce and it has been a challenge. I found it to be a difficult read and have been moving slowly or should I say barely moving forward. Than this past Saturday we went to the movies to see the Debt. (Diane and I loved it) As we were watching the Trailers (previews for upcoming movies) one caught both of our attention. Tinker, Taylor, Soldier by John le Carre’. So as soon as we got home I had to search, for some reason I was under the mistaken impression that we had every book by John le Carre’, go figure one book missing. Then I remembered that we had The Quest for Karla the published by Knopf in 1982 which had all three. So I excitedly dwelled into it and started reading. I read it about 30 years ago and hardly remember any of it. I love to know how the movie differs from the book. Hence I am reading it again. So what would you have done, finish Ulysses or jump to Tinker Taylor, Soldier? Real Estate- Economic Market Update for the week of September 12, 2011 As you know not only do Realtors, but Fed Officials and Lawmakers would like to see a boost in the economic growth. The Challenge is “how to do it”. The Fed Chairman Bernanke stated that the Fed will consider additional stimulus ant the next meeting on September 21st, 2011. What does that mean to the average buyer and seller of Real Estate? In simple English the Fed Chairman gave no indication what if any action the Fed will take. That means they are divided and do not have a clear decision on whether to easy monetary policy or not. Some of the Fed officials came out in favor of additional monetary stimulus to lower the unemployment rate and hoping to improve the current high unemployment numbers. So in a nutshell lack of action at the moment and postponement (stalling until the next meeting). In other words they are still weighing the costs vs. the benefits of different programs and what effects it will have on the Economy. This to me is unacceptable. IF these people cannot figure out, that the government has spent an enormous amount of money over the past few years on “stimulus programs” with little or no tangible results, than they should not be in that position to decide what to do next. We do not need analysts to disagree about the effectiveness or the lack of. All they have to do is talk to the people in the Trenches, the businessmen and businesswomen and ask them what they need. The answer is very simple less Taxes, less Government Restrictions on all facets of the economic spectrum and then confidence will return. This is very easy if one does not over think the problem and use basic common sense. One thing is sure the next Fed meeting will have substantial impact on the Mortgage Interest Rates. So if you want to take advantage of these low rates, buy now before interest rates will have the only way it can UP. The 22nd annual Coastal Cleanup Day will be Saturday September 17, 2011 On Coastal Cleanup Day everyone in Los Angeles gets a chance to clear their streets and neighborhoods of debris. Let’s be realistic whatever people pickup anywhere, they will not end up in the ocean. According to Heal the Bay, Coastal Cleanup Day volunteers around the world have collected more than 166 million pieces of debris over the past 27 years. On the one hand this is very commendable. Than on the other hand I cannot believe that people would throw that much debris just on the ground or in the sand. How sad, had the people that visit the beaches just tossed their garbage into the containers this figure would be a lot less… But I am digressing. There are never enough Volunteers to do the Cleanup Day. So if you would like to do something good for your neighborhood or the environment, please sign up at http://healtthe-bayccd.eventbrite.com There will be 60 sites this year including more than 20 inland locations. Hard to believe but they will even have SCUBA dive sites at Leo Carrillo State Beach, Redondo Beach and of course the Santa Monica Pier. This year Ford Motor Company is one of the main sponsors and they will donate $50 to Heal the Bay for every test drive taken on their vehicles on display. Also as an added benefit anyone who tests drives their vehicle will be automatically entered for a chance to win a new econ-friendly Fords. So with that said please Volunteer and Help the environment, and help keep your Beaches and the Community Litter Free. If you ever went to the beach and loved it, help us out. Thank you for your support. Active Rain Notification Subject: New Comment on your Blog Post Normally when I get this e-mail on my Black Berry or if I am in front of my PC I get very excited and look forward to reading who sent me a comment. Since I blog, I find it refreshing when someone gives feedback. About four days or so I received such an e-mail notification: There’s a new comment on the blog entry Century City Condominium Market Report for March 2011 Comment by lngzska: kb7kxT dkkewogoerga Please follow this link to respond: http://activerain.com/blogsview/2237041/century-city-condominium-market-report-for-march-2011 Having received these in the past I was not too concerned, just disappointed. What followed after was hard to believe. I was averaging 30+ comments like these a day. Go figure it was the weekend and no one to help. I kept spending time notifying with the “concern button” each time. Time consuming it was. I wrote to Bob at AR since I did not know who to turn to. Bog sent me an e-mail how to fix the problem so I want to share that with you in case you have issues like this: Endre, The best thing to do if that happens is to go to the ‘settings’ link on the left hand side of your my home page. In that area is a little check box setting that says ‘allow non-member comments’. If you uncheck that box and then hit ‘save settings’ it will stop the spammers from being able to hit your blog. Then after a day or three, go back and allow them again and they will have moved on. Needless to say I am anxiously hoping that this will solve it. Yes you might say you get 10 points……Take my word, notifying 37 times is time consuming and you only get a max of 100 points per day. Believe me you are better off not getting the spam. So with that said if you are dreaming of getting an extra 100 points you are better off commenting on four posts you enjoyed reading. I prefer getting my points via writing a post or commenting, but not getting Spamed. Also if you are not a Member of Active rain for the next few days you will not be able to comment on my Posts, should you like to communicate with me feel free to e-mail me directly. September 11,2011 Ten Years later! Hard to believe! Never Forget! It is very hard for me to believe that it has been ten years when Tragedy struck us as a Nation. It is even harder to believe the lives we lost since than. So I want to remember all who were here and are gone now since September 11 2001. It is hard for me to believe that I wrote a post a year ago about the American Flag starting to go on a Memorial Tour from Santa Monica CA to the World Trade Center NY : The World Memorial Tour will start at the Santa Monica Pier in California this Saturday on September 11, 2010. The World Memorial is a federal charity foundation and will tour the country and plans on flying the” flag” in all 50 states. http://actvra.in/jmm Here we are one year later 2 minutes to Midnight on the West Coast as I am writing this post. I want to thank all the Patriots, All those who lost loved ones and let’s pray for Peace & Victory over these Criminals who have perpetrated this crime on our Country. Marina Del Rey CA Condominium Market Report for the month of August 2011 There has been a lot of Turbulence in the world as well as the US economic arena. This always makes me pause and wonder what effect it will have on Real Estate in my geographic area of practice. Interestingly I have finished posting three other micro real estate markets and they all fared very well. So with that said, let’s see how the numbers were in Marina Del Rey, CA. Currently there are 139 Active Condominiums on the Market available for purchase. This was a huge drop from the previous month. The least expensive one is One Bedroom of approximately 778 square feet of living space for the asking price of $189,000. At the other extreme, the most expensive Luxury Ocean view Condominium is a three bedroom and three and a half bath with 3,848 square feet of living space for $3,950,000.00. There were 9 Properties in Backup-Status, where the buyers still have not removed their contingencies. This is a huge increase from the previous month. There was 1 Condominium in Hold Status; this is an indication of Short Sales, where buyers and sellers are waiting for Lender Approval. I always wonder is that an indication of Banks approving the offers faster or is it, that there are fewer Short Sales. I suspect it is somewhere in between. Interestingly there are 17 Properties that are in Pending– Status. This is where the buyers are just waiting for funding and Escrow to close. This is a slight increase over the previous month’s numbers. The Sold statistic consisted of 24Condominium that closed during the month of July. This was a huge increase over the previous month. Hence it proves that the savvy buyers were not affected by the turbulence in the world and US Markets and understood the value and proceeded with their purchases. The Century City Condominium Market Report for the month of August 2011 I have been so busy with Real Estate and my personal life that I have to mention that my report is late again. The turbulent economic picture around the Globe and in the US should make this report very interesting. Currently there are 300 Active Condominiums on the Market available for purchase. This is a slight decrease from the previous month. The least expensive one is a Studio of approximately 188 square feet of living space for the asking price of $49,000. At the other extreme, the most expensive Luxury Condominium is a three bedroom and three and a half bath with 5,519 square feet of living space for $13,795,000.00. There were 25 Properties in Backup-Status, where the buyers still have not removed their contingencies. This is a large increase from the previous month’s numbers. There were 4 Condominiums in Hold Status; this is an indication of Short Sales, where buyers and sellers are waiting for Lender Approval. This is a huge drop from the previous month. So either Short Sales are decreasing or Banks are starting to get the approvals out faster. My observations on this are, it is a combination of both. Interestingly there are 16 Properties that are Pending- Status. This is where the buyers are just waiting for funding and Escrow to close. This was a slight drop from the previous month’s numbers. The Sold statistic consisted of 43 Condominium that closed during the month of July. This is an increase over the previous month’s number of 39. So it is very interesting that the turbulence did not affect the savvy buyer’s decisions to move forward with their purchases in Century City, CA.
